@Baron, but you also know its not the stickers or whatever that accounted for the valuation. It was the userbase as with all those apps. And let me ask you an honest question: Which is more ridiculous, selling/buying some emoticons or stickers on a chat app and actually being successful, or on the other hand selling/buying a reality augmented game that makes people chase monsters in our cities? Are we living in crazy times? Yes of course we are, get comfortable with it.
Yes but that explanation does not cut in on either end. Investors who do not understand new business models but want to remain competitive at some point need to familiarize themselves. Equally, younger generations do not think what all this entails and how the valuations really come about. Try getting a few hundred thousand views on a youtube video and then tell me how hard it is to reach millions and then hundreds of millions. Selling and reaching people is a valuable skill. Of course we can debate whether the valuations attached to each active user are warranted
And lack thereof. It's pretty simple. The emperor has no clothes, but some keep talking about them anyway. I was really getting worried before this thread, that this bull market had few signs of excess. Then there was the trader for a hedge fund in the Hamptons who thinks he's the new wolf of Wall Street. Now this. I feel much better, like things are in line.
You are accurate but the issue is things can get out of whack for a very long time before they correct back to sensible levels. Makes a lot of sense to wait for a confirmation that the pendulum has started to swing back, so far I do not see that confirmation written on the wall.
My next question is, who is the government going to villain-ize the next time it all falls apart? If you can figure it out, that's probably where you should invest. After you have sold too soon, you can turn on the TV and watch Elizabeth Warren screech in front of Congress.
We're going to have to invoice you for the little smiley used above. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please remit payment within 5 business days.
I remember the bull market of the 80's. It was so much fun. Now there's so much denial going on, political correctness. Hard to read things that way.
