Pacific Exchange has legal widths.... 0.05 - 2.00 = .25 2.05 - 5.00 = .40 5.05 - 10.000 = .50 10.10 - 20.00 = .80 20.10+ = 1.00
There are at CBOE: 25 cents up to $2, 40 cents up to $5, 50 cents up to $10, etc. (I don't remember the rest). BUT -- there are lots of rules for transient exceptions based on market activity, and hundreds of long-term exemptions for particular underlyings.
