Lightspeed Reports Superior Uptime During Recent Volatility-Induced High Trading Volumes
    November 23, 2020

A testament to the firm’s infrastructure and stability, the Lightspeed Trader platform maintained superior uptime activity during volatility-induced high volumes following news of election results and the Pfizer vaccine.

New York, NY – 11/23/20– Lightspeed Financial Services Group (“Lightspeed”), reports that the firm’s flagship trading platform, Lightspeed Trader, was consistently running and active during early November’s surge in trading volumes, executing thousands of trades with superior uptime.

On Monday, November 9th, trading platforms across the investment landscape suffered technical issues attributed to extreme trading volumes and activities following news of the projected presidential election results and optimism for the Pfizer vaccine. Lightspeed Trader, however, reported superior uptime activity, despite the marked increase in recent trading volumes.

“We continually upgrade Lightspeed Trader to give active traders an edge in the market. The technology and features built into our platform are driven by one goal: to give real traders the trading tools and the stability to succeed, regardless of market conditions,” said Kevin Ott, Co-President and Chief Strategy Officer at Lightspeed.

This stability is a testament to Lightspeed’s continued investment in technology and infrastructure. Combined with a continued focus on security, load capacity, and scalability, Lightspeed Trader executes its mission of providing active traders with a stable, ultra-low latency trading platform.

“Providing clients with a performant, consistent, and reliable experience irrespective of market conditions or turmoil is our core philosophy,” said Thomas Gibb, Lightspeed’s Co-President and Chief Operating Officer. “Our trading platform’s reliability during this unprecedented and volatile period is a testament to our technology, the quality and talent of staff, and a culture of operational discipline.”

So long as it can also core a apple, Lightspeed is OK in my book. :)

  3. I'm currently on IB and TOS (for charts, swings, and backup scalping). I do miss lightspeed from time to time. What I like most about is the level of customization you can do (hot keys, buttons, custom order-types, etc.). Also really like the Time and Sales. The platform NEVER has issues, at least in my experience! One area I feel it's lacking is in the charts. The latency is AMAZING, but I just prefer TOS-style charts, and I know a lot of traders have a similar view. I also wish I could have a lightspeed account w/less than $25k (and still be able to use Lightspeed Trader). I plan to get back to LS when I have a need for a third account. I started with LS when I was maybe 5 months into my journey. Still had no edge. Burned through $10k+ with trial and error. Now that I have multiple edges and clear cut strategy, I would appreciate the software more.

You can have access to Lightspeed Trader with as little as $10,000, but you can't really be an active trader with under $25,000 because of the PDT rule.
