  1. shoeshine,

back in the day, when i was into hardcore straight edge punk music, there was a christian hardcore band called "the crucified". those dudes really rocked--every bit as good as "minor threat" and other seminal hardcore groups. thanks for the memories.

This is largely misunderstood by Christians and everybody. "The flesh" refers to "will of the flesh". That is what Adam and Eve got in the Garden, the Devil came along and cut a deal with them wherein they lost their dominance over nature and lost their connection with God and let the Devil be a part of themselves, he IS "the will of the flesh". What happens to almost every individual on earth is that at some time they are hurt once too often, the devil comes to them with the same deal "be strong, separate from God, he did not help you, etc." and they separate from God and they don't hear as clearly from God after that and they are way less prone to depend on Him. That is called pride, it is the first step away from God. I have been in meetings where we were praying for people that were there and they were confessing their pride and all sorts of stuff and we regain a certain mastery over nature and natural laws with Jesus' help and people get over psychological and physical problems in a supernatural way. That is what the cross is about, you can take all the deals you cut with the devil, without understanding you were doing so, in almost every case, to the cross and cancel out the deals and regain your connection to God and get healings and freedom like you would not believe. The whole scripture is not that hard to understand once you get a few basics down and put things into practice.
