The US is ranked 4th because of inner city shootings. Something liberals refuse to talk about so they bring up ridiculous arguments like "Alaska has one of the highest homicide rates". Ask anyone on earth if they would rather spend a week in Anchorage AK or a week in Camden NJ. Most white liberals would wet their underoos just driving through Camden, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, etc.
Let's not get carried into your right wing rabbit hole here clubber. The vast majority of what you would call "socialist" countries are extremely safe. Venezuela isn't unsafe because it's socialist, it's unsafe because it's a totalitarian regime. Agree or disagree? See how you make an indefensible comment and when you realize you can't defend it you either have to respond with "fap fap fap" or quick try to change the subject? You realize how transparent that is? BTW, I grew up in Alaska, I'd rather spend a week in Camden...or Baltimore, or Chicago. I know facts are very inconvenient for you, do you think the statistics for homicide in Alaska are "fake news", a result of some "deep government" conspiracy among statisticians, or how do you just don't believe it because? Furthermore, since you've most probably never spent a week in any of those places or actually listened to anyone who you classify as a "white liberal" without holding your hands over your ears yelling "fap fap fap" like a small child, your opinion on the matter is pretty irrelevant.
Disagree, and strongly. Venezuela is unsafe most likely because it is a failed state in an already notoriously unsafe continent - ridden by disfunctioning democracies. I spend quite a bit of time in both democratic and totalitarian regimes and feel more safe in totalitarian countries. Money helps, like in the UAE, Singapore or Tier 1 cities in China, but is not necessary, in poorer countries totalitarian regimes seem to help as well (one can do further research about public safety in place like Myanmar (at least for foreigners), Bielarus or other develloping or thirld world totalitarian countries and their more democratic neighbours, my experience plus the feedback i get from countries i haven't visited is quite opposite to your claim. Democracies seem far from ideal to keep public order and safety
You are wrong about white liberals. We talk about this stuff all the time and wonder how to help people in these environments. I even belong to a club where we read books about it. I wish people on this forum would stop painting everyone and every "group" with a broad brush. It's just another form of prejudice. Issues like murder and dangerous neighborhoods concern everyone.
It's actually an interesting thing that the clubbers of the world are doing, and he is really making it obvious here. They are told what these "white liberals" think by their right wing bubble, and what they're told is a ridiculous caricature of what liberals really think. Indeed if liberals really believed what the clubbers of the world think they believe I'd agree they were a bunch of idiots as well. Clubber probably truly believes that liberals all think Venezuela is a great place and that the insane stuff they're doing like forcing companies to sell their products for less than it costs to make them is a good idea. Unfortunately, people like Clubber are certain they know what you believe better than you do, and they refuse to listen to you when you try to correct their misconception (hands over ears, fap fap fap). It's obviously hard to have an intelligent conversation with someone acting like a 6th grader, so Clubber isn't a great example. But there are intelligent, well meaning conservatives who sadly have insulated themselves in this right wing bubble and are fighting this fabricated vision of the left that doesn't really exist. Certainly the left is doing this as well, I've had to correct people who are sure that every conservative believes everyone should be carrying an assault rifle and who have no concept of what it's like living in a place like Alaska where guns are reasonable part of life. Sadly it doesn't help rational discourse at all.
%% I noticed in Bloomberg Business Week magazine[ not as good as IBD newspaper or website]; they had a picture of the ''price police'' You guessed it, their job was to police private sector prices; cant make this stuff up!!!!!
I recently saw that Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia. Los Angeles......the 4,5 cities with the highest murder rates constituted 1/4 of the murders in the country. All of them have tough gun laws for law abiding citizens. The crime rate in the U.S. is not as high as many reports would suggest. It's how crime is reported that is counted. In Mexico only about 5-10 percent of all crimes are reported because they know that nothing will happen if it does get reported. And only 3-5 percent of all murders result in a conviction. And the percentage is just as miserable for other crimes. The lack of confidence in the public sector is a major reason. If a crime does not get reported it does not count. The U.S. is a nation with 320M people, 75% have cell phones with a camera recording everything we do and 1000 cable channels to broadcast it. That is not true in other nations.
The U.S. does not have the 4th highest murder rate in the world. I don't care what journalists print. They only compile the data that is given. If it is not reported then it is not a crime. And who does the killing here? Most of it is either gang related or drug related. And you are more likely to be killed by someone you know. About an 85% chance if you are white and 95-98 percent chance if you are black. I have seen this several times but I can't find the resource now..... Bottom line....stay away from drugs and gangbangers and be careful with the people you socialize with. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u....f_vicitm_by_race_and_sex_of_offender_2013.xls
Yes, well, you can dispute the data to judge wether the US homicide rate is below or above lovely and peaceful countries like Brazil or South Africa, there is little reason to believe violent crime is less underreported in US than in other first world countries, and the US comes up on top in in that list.
