Life after 50

  1. Yes, everyone should have at least one trip, or one experience to do each year.
You don't have to travel to Europe, but a trip to the beach or a national park is entertaining and creates memories.

Diet Coke is the worst, the sweetener is known to be cancer causing. Even regular coke would be better. Have you tried shifting to another type of soda? Like soda with lime juice? Really good!

Btw, I quit drinking Diet Coke in my mid 20s when I realized I was drinking a 6 pack a day. Haven't drank a soda since.
I also started smoking Camel non filters at 14, then filtered, then lights, until I quit at 39. Surprised my cardiologist who says I have no signs of having been a smoker in my lungs. Although I have a 50 BPM heart rate, cardio is still my most dreaded form of exercise!

Being retired, I have the flexibility to work out, so I'm at the gym 5-6 days a week, pumping weights 2 days, yoga 2 days and some form of HIIT classes 2 days. I'm finally losing fat, with a goal of 20% for now. I dropped from 28% to 24% in the last 8 weeks, pushing to reach my goal by end of summer. The follow 6 months will be devoted to keeping it off.

  3. Keep up the good work, you are moving in the right direction.

28 percent is my current BF as well.

My uncle smoked non filtered camel cigarettes and died of cancer at about 50.

Yeah, smoking is stupid. So glad I've kept my 18 year old from taking that route. Being in Singapore helped.

Yeah, I don't think so. Unless when they gave 30 times more to mice what an average man would normally drink or something. The dose makes the poison.

Anyhow, try Fresca, God's gift to humankind since 1966, the first diet soda. If it was bad for us, in 6 decades there would be some evidence of it. And drink max. 2 a day, not a 6 pack.

  6. I just don't see what the big deal is about soda. I never liked it as a kid and I still don't. For thirst nothing beats water.

I just don't see what the big deal is about smoking, eating sugar, drinking coffee, doing drugs, etc. I never liked it, much better to live like a Mormon... :)

Fresca is delicious.... I got at least 3-4 people hooked on it so far.

When I raised my kid I went out of my way to no give him any sodas, ever. Told parents at parties he gets violently sick if he drinks it... Now 18, he doesn't drink sodas although he tolerates beer.

  9. So soda makes life worth living for you?

Your family must be very proud.

  10. Good for you, and good for him.

Thing is, I never even developed a taste for beer either. Tried to fit in when I became of age, but I just couldn't do it. As for differences in taste between one beer and another? As far as I'm concerned they all come from the same urinal. :D

(Although I did try my hand at the harder stuff back in the day, and I was briefly enamored with mixed drinks when I went out with the gang. But the romance wore off quickly.)
