Tony Hawk tweeted this after making a 720 at 52: "I recently made a 720 and it was a battle. The last one I made before this was over three years ago, and it’s much harder now all things considered: recently dislocated fingers hinder my grab, my spin is slower so I need to go higher for full rotation and... I’m really old. He said this might be the last 720 he ever does."
As soon as he sees his 600lb deadlift drop by 50% in his quest for abs, he'll probably come up with a different goal.
It's great that he can do that. It would take anyone, many years to accomplish what he just did. But I wonder if he has any other interests in his life. Or if he spends all his time in the gym.
Not sure what link to post as there are many videos from his lifts on utube, but if u care about older folks lifting big weights, David Ricks is probably the most famous, a bit over 60 now I think, keeps on beating world records in his age categories and has been competing for decades
They are tough guys but I still think that Frank Zane was the best, well rounded bodybuilder of all time. I know the guys above are power lifters, but when I see pics of FZ in his prime, it's everything good about powerlifting. He won 3 Mr Olympias. He trained with Schwarzenegger, who won 6, but he doesn't look natural, and balanced like FZ. He was 5 ft 9, 29 inch waist
Uh yes, it's a different sport and Zane wasn't over 50 when he became Mr Olympia. About natural though, I d like to add Rick Davis is competing in IPF , the main drug tested drug powerlifting federation but I don't believe one second he's not at least on a strong TRT, which is also alegedly banned. A bit of a joke sometimes the IPF and their drug testing, for those who follow it. But David Ricks is very far from a joke, his performances are amazing.
