Poilievre has never impressed me. In general there isn't a lot of difference between the Liberal and Conservative parties ( the names will confuse some Americans ) and I've probably voted Conservative federally more often then anything. I look at the people involved ( leader and local candidate ); I never liked the original Trudeau or when the party was too much involved with Quebec and related subsidies ( decades ago ). At one point I liked the NDP in Ontario but when they actually won, which is rare, they weren't impressive on execution. The Trumpers would hate the NDP.

Carney is everything Trump is not. A truly successful man in business that understands trade with extensive central banking experience. Freeland would have been fine too but she got singed by being associated with Trudeau too much. Conservatives well get a better leader I may look at them if Liberals fall short.

One of the most unusual elections in history with two parties dominating. However, Carney took a party on the edge of a one election disaster to power again in weeks. Conservatives did have a disaster in the past when Canada dropped them to like 4 seats so it can happen.

I will go as far to say most Americans do not understand there's a political difference between Canada's Conservatives versus the United States Conservatives. Just as important, there are more similarities between Conservatives & Liberals in Canada in comparison to Conservatives & Liberals in the United States...

Resulting in less division in Canada and they can quickly unite to threats from abroad.

Yeah, Carney is a much better businessman than Trump and has a better understanding of economics/government economics.

With that said, it will be an election that goes down in history for what Carney was able to do on short notice after the resignation of Trudeau...an amazing comeback for the Liberals and Carney was able to do it without being a rapist, convicted felon, and didn't need to make threats to arrest those he defeated in the election.

Just as important, we will not see the loser YELL the election was stolen and not see the loser try an insurrection on the capitol. :sneaky:

I selfishly propose a passport-for-poutine scheme so that people who have unwanted Amercian citizenship, can exchange this for a probationary path to Canadian citizenship. Once you have proven you are polite enough etc.

Canada, even with paper ballots the conservative's are losers.
Their conservatives bash Trump, proving they're all uni-party sell outs.
Trump, no we don't need another California.

  6. Beware! There are Democrats and Liberals lurking under your bed.

Doug Ford does have his knives out and will go after the wounded Pierre Poilievre. I didn't realize how ruthless Ford can be until Trump won his 2nd term and then Ford threaten to turn off the electricity on part of the United States...only making that threat after Trump threaten Canada that he wants to annex it and then hinted to use military force if necessary to get its resources.

Seriously, I thought Doug Ford would do it if push came to shove.

Also, the Youtuber is spot on that Mark Carney is a Red Tory.

Centre-right or paternalistic-conservative political philosophy derived from the Tory tradition. It is most predominant in Canada; however, it is also found in the United Kingdom, where it is more commonly known as one nation conservatism.

I remember when I first heard him speak on TV many years ago. I was shock to learn he was a Liberal.

He's the perfect example of why the name "liberal" is so much different in Canada in comparison to the United States...same is true for the name "conservative". He shouldn't have much difficulty in continuing to "unite" Canada against Trump and he has put other countries on notice to not fear Trump MAGA.

Maybe the Democrats in the United States should hire the campaign manager of Mark Carney for the 2028 Presidential election. A possibility considering some in Carney's orbit are dual citizens of Canada and the United States. :D

Canada just taught America what the word "united" should mean for a country. The meaning that the United States has forgotten under Trump MAGA.

The concept of a single, unified country formed from the union of individual states. It represents a collective entity where these states are joined together under a common government and identity.

Then again, maybe that last time the United States was "united" was during WWII???

Some may argue it never has been "united" that eventually led to the Civil War and then strong division developed...many remaining as such today.

By the way, voter participation in the largely Trump-driven federal election for Canada was among the largest since the free-trade election of 1988. Trump pissed off that many Canadians who wanted someone able to take the fight to Trump.

Like China, Canada's exports like 80% of it goes to the US. Apparently, the Canadians are not paying attention to what is happening in China. When they lose their jobs and the price of US imports go thru the roof, Canadians will see and experience first hand, what voting for Carney has for them. US can buy the same products from Canada from other countries. Think of Canada as China trade war 2.0. US has not raised the tariffs in the same extreme way but, Canada will feel the adverse effects soon enough.
