    From AP:

Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6 billion rounds of ammo

    The Associated Press

WASHINGTON — The Homeland Security Department wants to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the next four or five years. It says it needs them — about the equivalent of five cartridges for every person in the United States — for law enforcement agents in training and on duty.

Published federal notices about the ammo buy have agitated conspiracy theorists since the fall. That's when conservative radio host Alex Jones spoke of an "arms race against the American people" and said the government was "gearing up for total collapse, they're gearing up for huge wars."

The government's explanation is less sinister. Federal solicitations to buy the ammo are known as "strategic sourcing contracts," which help the government get a low price for a big purchase, says Peggy Dixon, spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga. The training center and others like it run by the Homeland Security Department use as many as 15 million rounds every year, mostly on shooting ranges and in training exercises.

Do AP journalists know how to use a calculator?

1.6 Billion divided by 15 million is 106 years.

Maddow and the rest of the Liberal Media that spun this as 'lunatic-right-wing-conspiracy-nonsense' are pure liars.

The DHS is gearing up for a shooting war with Americans.
  2. The left claims the NRA is a lobby for the weapon manufacturers.

It will be interesting to see how the NRA lines up on the bill in Congress trying to limit Government purchasing of ammo.

Yes, you are spot on. They're preparing for a war on US soil with American people. Think we might possibly have an out of control, tyrannical gubment? Our Founding Fathers would MOST CERTAINLY agree, and would be the first to start doing something about it. But yes, no question, the gubment is preparing for a war AGAINST the American people. I could lay out evidence that would boggle the mind.:(

Yup. The NRA typically sell out and get behind watered-down gun control. The Guv has clearly moved from a fast walk (under GW), to a sprint (under Obama) towards full-on tyranny. Leap - the evidence is staggering. Agreed.
  5. links to this evidence that is not from conspiracy nutters, please.

    That's an AP article, retard.
  7. "Published federal notices about the ammo buy have agitated conspiracy theorists since the fall. "

Again, you conspiracy nutters think the government is behind every bush, behind every tree.

You don't know the governments intent, so you invent one to make yourself feel alive with some sort of mighty purpose.

    Are you stupid? Honestly?

AP reports DHS has lined purchases of 1.6 Billion rounds of ammo.

    That's a fact.

Do you know what a fact is? Apparently, you don't. Neither does Rachel Maddow. Nor does any hair-brained twit on the Left.

As to the WHY, that's a real head-scratcher, ain't it?

15 million rounds are used PER YEAR, for LE training.

That's 106 *YEARS* of ammo stockpiled.

Now why do you suppose the DHS - with only a domestic charter - is in the process of stockpiling 100 Years worth of ammunition?

Or are you so brainwashed, you can't see evil when a Liberal is in the White House?

GAO Now Investigating DHS Ammo Purchases

The Government Accountability Office tells Whispers it is now investigating large ammunition purchases made by the Department of Homeland Security. Chuck Young, a spokesman for GAO, says the investigation of the purchases is "just getting underway."

The congressional investigative agency is jumping into the fray just as legislation was introduced in both the Senate and the House to restrict the purchase of ammo by some government agencies (except the Department of Defense). The AMMO Act, introduced Friday, would prevent agencies from buying more ammunition if "stockpiles" are greater than what they were in previous administrations.
