Your CDC charts and conduits charts are looking at different things. It is not gun ownership that lowers homicide rate it is stricter gun laws.. Stricter gun laws are compatible with higher ownership, as Hawaii data shows. The trend has been toward tightened gun laws and higher gun ownership nationally! The CDC charts do not show cause they only show correlation. The important charts for you are the first one Conduit posted in conjunction with a chart showing gun ownership increasing. That will explain nicely what you are seeing in the CDC charts.

The underlying lesson here is how dangerous and futile it is to teach against basic human nature; how useless and dangerous it is to turn a blind eye to the wide spectrum of human sexuality. This is one of the great failings of some of the most important ancient religions still practiced today. Both the Christian and Muslim religions are dangerous in this respect, but the Christian less so, as Christians, in general, have learned to largely ignored those sections of their Bible that are out of step with modern reality. Islam, on the other hand, is still mired in century old beliefs. Both religions are, at their roots, barbaric and primitive. Education and scientific enlightenment, however, has hugely reduced the barbarism of Christianity, but has had much less affect, so far , on Islam. In time, and with enough exposure to the modern world, Islamic and Christian beliefs will merge and be absorbed into modern culture and reality; the barbarism and nonsensical teachings of the Christian Old Testament and the Koran will be seen as historical footnotes, and paid little heed. Likely all of us today will be dead before that happens. It is a hideously slow process.

Maybe the reality is that most who call themselves Christians are only Christians by name. They don't care nor follow any of the commandments. I know countless devoted Christians and they have loving families, they don't engage in adulterous affairs, they don't fuck around, and they deal with problems in their life with a servant attitude. Nothing is more attractive in my eyes than someone who understands that life does not circulate around him but that he has a place and takes the responsibilities given to him in an honest and responsible manner. I would claim that 80-90 percent of all "Christians" in the US are fake and live by their own rules and standards rather than by biblical standards. Same applies to outside the US. Huge difference is that Jesus Preached love to others regardless of their attitudes whereas Islam teaches hatred. In that I fully understand the emotions in the US towards Muslims at the moment. I claim a real and devoted Muslim cannot live in peace among those of other believes. True Christians can. But I also believe stricter gun laws should be dealt with separately. Both are important issues and both warrant an honest discussion. Unfortunately most in this thread are dishonest in their arguments to start with. They approach life with the "gimme gimme gimme attitude". As long as they can maximize their own gain the game is fair. If they sense they have to compromise in the slightest they are get all wound up and irrational. I think that is a fact as well and not just an opinion.
