Why not honestly investigating the US statistics? The numbers are out there (I posted them). I honestly believe most in the pro gun camp lack the ability to make any connections to Australia's case. But they may understand why the deaths by gun violence in Louisiana and New Jersey, for example, are so different, given we can back them up by hard cold numbers.

Unless of course there is no interest in moving forward...

If you honestly believe in this urban legend and even attempt to draw parallels then you have not the slightest understanding about the motivation and rational behind most modern religious extremist. Most incidences in the western world were NOT committed by some religious zealots. They were committed by religiously clueless individuals who gave up on themselves and society, because they feel disenfranchised, or pushed against a wall. I am not excusing any of the actions of someone who kills others but it is vitally important to understand the motivations if we ever want to succeed against domestic and international terrorism.

Out of which obscure hole are people like you crawling? Everytime there are more facts on the table more lies and falsehood surfaces as well. It's absolutely amazing.

My hypothesis... It's the internet, Cap'n. They say Mateen was (among other problems) "radicalized over the internet". Interesting concept, no? Think about it, we can go to the opinion sites we agree with, and only those sites, and continue reinforcing and hardening our own opinions day after day. Wouldn't this process then tend to filter and distort all that we read everywhere else? If the internet is one great big mind, it has enabled some of us to ruminate to the point of madness. Being home alone, as so many reportedly are, cannot be helpful.

Apparently you have difficulty separating facts from opinions. Nearly everything he wrote is an opinion, not a fact.

Let me provide you with some help to enlighten you with the difference between opinion and fact:
The statement "Trump Tower in Toronto was a disaster" is an opinion. There are a number of people who believe it was a disaster and there are others who claim it is perfectly fine. Certainly it is not a disaster compared to some other high-rises in Toronto that actually dropped junk that killed people.

Here is an example of a fact - On August 31, 2015 an "'Unstable antenna' on Trump Tower closes Bay St." This is a straight out fact. There is no dispute about what occurred. It is not an objective opinion about if the building was a disaster or not.

Facts are often established by overwhelming evidence. When a building project goes into receivership, when there are countless witnesses that testify to Trump's not paying vendors on time, when there are countless cheated T-Uni students, when Trump hired illegal immigrants whom he customarily underpaid or failed to pay for months then I would say that it is overwhelming evidence that establishes the fact that Trump is a business man of questionable character and work ethics. Rules for him are rules that are meant to be bent and not respected. All the above evidence that established the fact are verifiable by the way. I posted the source which appears well researched and lists facts by name and source and explains why the source is credible.

Trump is a cheat throughout his life and yet I do fully understand why people vote for him. But only the stupid believe that Trump has honest and selfless intentions.

It is your opinion, not a fact "that Trump is a business man of questionable character and work ethics." I happen to agree with your opinion.

Again it is not only my opinion but a fact supported by all the evidence on the table. You can't say a tomato is not red just because there is no conclusive fact a tomato is red. It is red because we humans chose a color called red which happens to match the color of a tomato. Everything that matches that color we also call red.

Equally, most business dealings and the way Trump conducted himself witnesses call ethically highly questionable. Heck, Trump has to coerce existing business relationships to force out of them counter testimony. When most everyone testifies to Trump not taking existing agreed contracts all too serious and has no problem to bankrupt one, but two, three,... Huge building projects then it is factual that he is not a prudent investor nor response business partner.

By extension, the question then arises how seriously he takes international law, how he unites Americans, and what kind of games he would be playing in the white house to further his own ego trip at the expense of everyone else.

I don't buy the theory that the killer is gay. It doesn't jive with the 59 virgins-martyr deal.

Of course, I am applying logic to a deranged individual, so what do I know.

What makes you think that the 59 virgins wouldn't be big hairy men just like him?
