The US has serious problems, and needs a planned, careful disarming of citizens over time starting with more dangerous cases and weapon types and moving towards a better long term target. As society gets safer, younger generations will feel better about choosing disarmament as the benefits to society will be more clear and practical. One need merely look at topics like smoking and seat belt usage to see examples of how drastically attitudes and society norms can change with education and momentum. There will always be very loud critics who refuse to change, but eventually society restricts their activities and the new norms and laws take over. Would it not be a better life for you if you didn't need a gun to live your life at all ? We have that in Canada. The populace wants no part of a gun culture. It's really a more pleasant option to the US way of treating gun ownership and use. How is this really working out for the US ? You have massive gun related crime rates, more killings, more suicides, and many people feel the need to carry to go about their daily lives. These stats don't lie, if the US is such a prosperous country, why so much bloodshed and lives ruined so easily ?
Then good folks like you should take the fight to Congress and its benefactor, the NRA, because unless someone is either convicted of a crime or legally declared to be mentally unstable, he or she can get their AR-15 on. Presently, that's the law.
Sure it is. It's about the combination of gun and crazy. You need to combine the two, like nitro and glycerin, to have the kind of explosive outcome on a scale that was just witnessed. As you know, I have no use for religion of any stripe, but you can't prosecute people based on their thoughts. The killer was US-born. Going forward, what would you propose to prevent the kind of damage this guy has done? There will always be crazy people in this world looking to do serious harm. There always have been. US gun laws need a serious and major overhaul to curtail the reach of the damage such people can cause. Because, as I noted in my prior post, unless someone is convicted of a crime or legally declared to be mentally unfit, he can work on his armory.
You need to tell that to the Second Amendment "fundamentalists." That's the law as it currently exists, thanks to Congress and the NRA.
As mentioned before, this kind of heavy-duty firearms should be built in a GPS tracking device. Therefore, any distant movement of a heavy-duty firearm moving away from its officially registered location would be automatically tracked immediately by the authority. When its movement stops anywhere for certain time interval, the local police who is handy would be alerted for urgent inspection/observation. The number of mass killing could be minimised through this way. As why would a heavy-duty firearm is moved from the specifically pre-registered location(s) or another state! For what purpose! When several heavy-duty firearms moving to and located in the same spot would mean huge danger to lives. Either gang or terrorists gathering for planned incidents. That could be possibly used for tracking ISIS movements if this functionality has been implemented long time ago! Anybody wants to deactivate the GPS device would automatically permanently destroy the firearm! Just 2 cents!
If we have to choose between the Second Amendment and our current policy of massive muslim immigration, I know which one I choose.
Yeah, it's all a pretty simple choice, really. Continue to usher in the immigrants with their jihadis embedded, and take the guns away from regular citizens. Or discontinue the immigration of jihadis and continue to allow the citizens of the country to arm themselves for protection. I think we have an election issue here.
massive Muslim immigration? Where when how? I do not see that. Does the US now issue special visa for Muslims, only? Because as sure as hell has there been no increase in overall immigration.
