  2. Here is something to think about I think nobody mentioned. There may be benefit to the availability of 400:1 leverage EVEN IF you never intend to use it.

For example, FXCM micro requires 2.5 dollars as maintenance level per 1000 units(or 1 micro lot) in a position (400:1 obviously)

Let's say I have $1,000 in my account and decide to leverage myself 50:1 and buy 50 micro lots of CHF/JPY. My used margin will be 50*2.5=125. My usable margin will be 875. That is a decent cushion.

With a broker that offers a maximum of 50:1 this trade would not even be possible. I would have zero usable margin.

Very interesting. So, if I am getting it right, this means that, even with micro accounts, the higher the leverage the higher the # of lots you can trade ?

That makes leverage a big selling point when comes the time of chosing a live broker.

I am not sure about others, but you sure shed some light for me. So my thanks to you.

  7. Here is the ultimate FU to people who think you should never trade above 10:1. I am attaching my FXCM micro account statements (I deposited 360 dollars and turned it into 1789 in 4 days) At no time did I use LESS than 50:1, in fact I used 100:1 twice or three times I think. Enjoy:

  10. Pretty tough to argue with those results.
    Great job Publix!
The best part, in my opinion, was the withdrawal at the end:p

PS. I shopped at Publix when I lived in Sarasota. Good prices.
