  2. The market actually! It always goes down when I pop up my head. I am a reverse indicator when I feel like coming out of my bunker-- it's usually a top of some sort. That's why I've been selling stuff. In particular looking at what is happening to retail I am nervous, this will spin off into the KIMCO's of the world the shopping REIT sectors which isn't far off from the cloud computing REITS like EQIX & COR. I have been invested in COR in and out and spent some time dividend diving amongst these names-- their sky high prices and vertical charts scare me to heck... yet I almost want to put new money there-- That's a sure sign of a short.

But of course I'm buying as well. I'm trying to buy stuff that hasn't had a huge run-- like ZENdesk. I like to play catch up and I'm confident our day will come and soon. To get this stock below $30 is a bit of a joke really...

ODFL-- is a truck hauling co that doesn't use union workers and does shortish hauls... If the economy is really improving and even if it isn't a big outiszed GDP number ought to to the trick... I'm looking here. I'm looking at WBC I'm not sure why-- the chart is so great and the sector? Meh? There must be something else going on here and I think it has to do with these self driving cars. I admit I'm an aggressive driver, very much so, I just don't know how I'm going to react when a driverless car is in front of me in the left lane doing 60. Another stock I'm hawking is Philips 66. (PSX) These refiner stocks they never seem to work when oil is high there's a reason and then when oil goes down suddenly no one remembers.. I hate hearing about crack spreads it's always a negative, it's an industry that cannot get out of it's own way... Yet there's something about Philips- management runs a tight company, these guys are well diversified and as an energy play it's not really doing that poorly.

Was that a shot fired-? Always a question when a car backfires and you live on the third floor of an apartment building. There has been a new small IPO Shot Spotter. I'm watching it I have mixed feelings, one that they kind of help you buy the system now-- hate that.. and they will undoubtedly be co opted by the FBI at some point... However looking at England... I bet this technology picks up random screams from run over people as well... (SSTI) Another IPO on the way is Spotify! And if I spelled that wrong it's because I've never used it. My brother is a music producer and he's big into it and Pandora never worked out-- timing is everything and I think unlike Snap which Iv'e never used either this Spotify might be a nice grab on day one...

I think SSTI is dead money out of the gate, don't touch it. No options and it can't be shorted.

Old Dominion has always been a steady eddie, near all time highs and its looking choppy... it needs a catalyst for an upside breakout here. Could happen.

Wabco .... hmmmm.... very cyclical. Tough call. Chart looks good... but it is hugely macro dependent. I like as a short near term.

Cloud reits... the best kept secret of the last 3 years to be sure. Pricey.

Phillips.... It never seems to go anywhere. Good yield though.

Oh well. Refreshing commentary and insights. Keep em coming. ttyl :D

  4. Well you should of been there at about 2:30 yesterday afternoon! A ton of action and Shotspotter up a buck! I tend to agree with you ODFL but PSX has strong appeal.

Few things.. I have one stock for the official portfolio-- GWPH. This is about the safest marijuana play you can have while also helping a lot of kids. First off a warning** I do marry these biotechs... I do find the field the most interesting in investing, I have had great wins and some great blow ups, it's a risky area of the market but I also have a real knack for it!

I am going to make you a promise here-- GWPH in at today's price I have to check ( I actually bought it a few weeks ago) This stock will go from $100 to $130 in short order and then off to $200. I feel it in my gut. That may not be the kind of advice that you want to hear from your financial advisor but hey neither is I was stoned and realized... Ironwood!

Yes that brings us to Ironwood Pharm IRWD.. one of these biotechs I have followed for years and years and years. Forever it was a $15 stock $10 on bad days it's wiggle jiggled up to $19.44. These guys do IBD stuff which is an important and growing problem area. Irritable Bowl Stuff not the newspaper... if that rag even still exists... Can slim my arse! The thing with investing is there's always two sides of a trade and with enough digging it's so annoying the best of my ideas have a chink in the story and in this case it's some competition that's coming from a rival... Ok I'll deal with that because that rival could have a set back which would be good for my stock and I have an entrenched lead... You can say that stock's been an outright dud-- in 2013 it was $18 and here we are again.... But you can also make the coiled spring argument...

Today IRWD gets the final look at, PSX got a nice div and I think ten bucks upside the chem side of their business is killing it! Warren Buffett bought in... they have new stuff coming online guaranteed new cash flow-- it's a nice story especially for an IRA.

And SSTI-- was that a shot fired at 3:00 yesterday it sure looked like it!

  5. Over a week ago 06/15 Wabco seen as target for techs with autonomous truck ambitions. I found this online-- I've been wondering what has been behind WBC's advance in the face of poor car sales and this may be the reason:

With disruption seen in the automotive market amid the development of connected and autonomous vehicle technology, Piper Jaffray analyst Alexander Potter said he expects the trucking sector to follow suit, leaving Wabco Holdings (WBC) as the only truck stock that he views as worth owning. BIG TECH EYES TRUCKS: As tech companies develop self-driving technology, Tesla (TSLA) and Amazon (AMZN) are making moves that analysts believe could potentially disrupt the trucking space. In April, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted, "Tesla Semi truck unveil set for September," after originally announcing the electric truck in his "Master Plan, Part Deux," released in July, writing it "will deliver a substantial reduction in the cost of cargo transport, while increasing safety and making it really fun to operate." Meanwhile in December, Amazon was said to be developing an app, expected to launch this summer, which will connect truckers and shippers in much the same way that Uber connects drivers and riders. "ONLY" TRUCK STOCK WORTH OWNING: Piper's Potter raised his price target for Wabco shares to $143 from $129 <--- in a note to investors this morning, saying the company's upcoming analyst day should illuminate the point that it will benefit, not be disrupted by, secular trends in the industry. -->A tech company with autonomous truck ambitions could buy Wabco and then use its "dominant position" in braking/stability control to drive standardization around a suite of self-driving algorithms, the analyst argues. Hummmmmmm TSLA buys Wabco or Apple??????

However, technology companies might not consider purchasing Wabco as they have often preferred to partner with automotive suppliers in order to focus on developing software or operating systems, Potter said, Boooooooo! but added investors underestimate the role of electronics and software/controls in Wabco products. PRICE ACTION: Wabco rose 0.1% to $121.68 in early afternoon trading.

I'm thinking maybe we should pay attention to that analyst day.....

Good stuff Stoney. Hey, jmho here.... but don't fall in love with SSTI. Its a story stock IPO. Once the shine where's off.... When's lock-up expiration?

WBC IS interesting. Gotta peel back the skin there and see what's up. Crawl around in the CEO's head.
PSX... I don't see how you can go wrong long term.

That brings us to GWPH :D
Someone else here a while back had that one as I recall. He had CARA too.
British operation dabbling in Cannaboids. Hmmm. I bet they have good elevator music.
    More to follow.

  7. Someone else??? I bet it wasn't $CostAverageman... I like CARA as well. In fact CARA had some orphan drug news yesterday and the stock has broken out a bit. The stoner politics of this is CARA uses just the not THC side of the ganja-- which is fine and has it's uses. The GWPH filters and reduces but keeps some of the THC in there at low levels. I'm a believer in you need both. When you make a very pure oil it has been shown to greatly help epileptic children.

So for me it's GWPH. I watch CARA-- some brokers I know are playing another name they have a patch... not into that... as a pure play the Canadian company APHQF is the name I would buy. I haven't quite got the guts yet but I track it.

Today is my last day at my desk. From here on out I will be in the wilderness but this year i will have the internet! So assuming the sign in process doesn't change here for me when I use a different computer I ought to be able to check in. And I feel this summer is going to be interesting.

I was in the correction camp just recently now I think we make a spurt up first. Hopefully it's not the same narrow group of stocks. RNG Ring Central-? Can anyone explain this stock to me. It's got a PE of negative ninety something why does it keep going up! What do they do? I looked at their top personal and many of them sound Russian!!!

  8. WE NEED TO FINISH THE ET PORTFOLIO 2017 UPDATE TODAY! We have so far seven names I believe and we need a few more!!! Why aren't people dropping great ideas here-? No one has any. That's what happens when you just blindly buy an index. Stock picking.. that long forgotten art it still survives in tiny small hamlets in the woods. With poison ivy. Man did I pick up some rash last weekend! All over my forearms it's such a pain to try and live in the big city with poison ivy people look at you like a monster. I made the mistake of telling my trainer and then he got all weird and made a big announcement and started scratching his face... and then of course I had acupuncture and woh... became an issue there. Apparently I still touch myself in the morning... an itch or prod..I think all great investors do this... touch themselves in the early morning-- it's a wake up call if anything just to know you still have one... even if it's not being used... Anyway have to explain to the wife how poison ivy got down there... I must of been scratching my arms in my sleep! And...

It's been a tough week to say the least and now one more day... Let's do this! I just feel like we need one more purchase at least... What is it though? I wish I knew ~stoney

  10. Man CARA is up 16% darn it! The problem is I'm actually buying all of this stuff not just shooting my mouth off and I had CARA isolated in my RS screens but ugh I do have to call a real portfolio manager and send the picks in... and I went with the larger name. I think CARA will sink back- it has shown itself to be a $17-$20 stk. GWPH can go much higher. But will it?

I'm doing some stock surfing and one name AER is a aircraft leasing company and boy did they make a large order for Boeing Dreamcraft wide bodies... Paying for it is an issue but that's a lot more craft and I wonder... a lot more earnings. Look back in 2015 and this name was David Einhorn Top Pick! a perma-bear when it comes to airlines, recently identified one aircraft lessor, AerCap (NYSE:AER), as one of his newest "best ideas" at the Grant's Investment Conference on April 7, 2015.

Einhorn's thesis is relatively simple: AerCap is well-managed, and can generate impressive returns on capital by buying planes and leasing them to airlines. In addition, after buying ILFC -- the firm started by Hazy -- in 2014 from AIG (NYSE:AIG) it's poised for an even better 2015. Central to Einhorn's thesis is the fact that AerCap bought ILFC for a song -- a price less than the appraisal value of its aircraft.

Anyway it's a full two plus years later and AER was $46 then and it's about $47 now!!!!
    Hummmmmm. Now all these planes.
