Added one more contract SHORT at 868.5 w/ a 1 point STOP. We are going to see if traders can take this to the UT (ultimate target) this time. Edit: so much for that idea as it gets stopped.
Moved up STOP on other contract up 1 point. it looks like we are getting quite a bounce and I am more willing to lose $50 than get temporarily STOPPED - only to see the ES move rapidly back down. I do not have all the day-trading tools many of you all have, but put in a STOP order to STO 1 ES at 869 with a 1.5 point STOP. Edit: ES keeps moving up. I guess this is still in a downtrend!
Closed 1 contract for $87 gain. Will wait and see if we get filled again at 869. Like it knew I just made my decision...less gain on the other - but filled on the STOP. Maybe it will just hang in mid-air then bounce, get STOPPED to then plummet. Or can cooperate and just dump. Even if it doesn't, it bodes well for my longer-term plays. Edit: moved STOP up to 871.5, now if it will just move to the downside target.
The action is not looking too encouraging. I mean there is weakness, but these bounces are quirky and not worth risking too much capital. NOW is the moment of truth. It will either cooperate and DROP decisively to again make trades decently profitable - or it will bounce and STOP this sucker out!
Yup. Just like that it establishes an uptrend within the downtrend and puts me at a $125 loss. Coupled with the $87 gain, this is not too much, but making money (at least for me) is not this difficult! Hmmph!!! Not willing that I should "miss out" on what thus far was a good call (had profit o $275) I entered again at same level I just got out of (w/ 1 point STOP) It has now gone down: I see $100 profit. I should get out? I should expect the profit target? I should expect the "noise" is now behind us? OK - I will wait. . . .and so we are half-way through the session and we are toiling.
Maybe it is just me, but when I see the indexes dangling below the break-down level and still in a downtrend for - well, I STO 2NQ w/ 2.5 point STOP. Edit: which gets STOPPED for $100 point loss. Well if things drop from here and I make somewhat of a profit I will be glad to call it a day.
Another moment of TRUTH. Now did the buyers get shaken out? I mean we bounced off this level 3 or 4 times already.p$ Edit: It is at 870. I think it will now JUMP 3 points in either direction from here. Question is which way will it go George?
Well we got an immediate 2 and then 1 more point up. I am still not STOPPED out and am waiting to go to a meeting and so I will have to be content to close this one out $37 loss. You guessed it - slight loss for the day! Whoohoo success! pay$ Edit: I took a quick peek to see that things now mov in the favor I HAD wanted them - but no it did another quick 2 point JUMP. I am liking my end of year LONGS better now, though.p$
Back from meeting and guess what? After a pretty good bounce the staunch weakness we have seen all day long is back again with still 2 hours left of trade. I went SHORT 1NQ @ 1185.25. We shall see what the EOD brings.
I guess I am not the only one thinking we should be able to profit - since at this exact juncture things start to act a bit funny.p$ Of course volume is ridiculously low, but you'd think so on both ends. Anyway, once we break a level there is a good chance traders will move it to the profit target. Yes, we mostly have to "fade" this, but NOT usually with a 2 hour bounce back above - to finally break down to the next level of support. . .only to bounce markedly to yank most anyone out of the trade. Funny because it may still reach the ultimate target. Perhaps taking small profits is better today. It seems to now be moving, but of course with the NQ and not the ES which will be about half the profit.
