Yeah it was like that for me when I was a kid, lots of socialization, riding bikes, meeting girls etc.. Neighborhoods today look desolate, everyone locked inside in the gated community mcmansion with no yard. I am real glad I am not a Kid today. You sure see a lot more miserable pricks on the street than in past times.
I grew up in a NY until I was 11 or 12 and then moved to suberbs The problem is that it seems less safe to leave your kids outside alone. I live in a pretty good neighborhood. If my wife leaves me with the kids - I feel like I have to sit outside and watch my 3 kids.
I think it is more than that. and I have to agree with Carlin. WTF do you need 2 walgreens within a 3 block radius and so many minimalls. It is all the same shit.
