Let's face it...Whatever you thought about Bush...

  1. You won't get an argument from me. I don't care what happens in the disaster zone known as the ME. I do care about my country and other Western nations however, and isis has American blood on their hands and they are threatening us. It seems like a lot of people have already forgotten 9/11.

And by the way as faulty as the rationale and strategy for the iraq invasion was (in hindsight), don't forget that it became our front line in the war against al qaeda. better there than here.

I think Afghanistan was more the front line against Al Qaeda. Iraq, with Saddam in power, was essentially a dead fish.

  3. True, but after saddams regime fell, which was early on, the major opposing force became al qaeda in iraq, which is now the islamic state.

I'm not trying to exonerate Bush of all blame but I don't see how what's going on now is his fault, he did leave a stable iraq behind. We still have bases in Germany and Japan because of WWII, but not in iraq.

I'm not saying what is going on now is his fault per se, but if he never deposed Saddam, none of this would be an issue in the first place.

  5. If you're talking about the situation specifically in iraq, then you're probably right, but I don't see why other conflicts (like syria) wouldn't have happened anyway.

'radical' islam is on the rise in north africa and all over the ME. I don't believe the arab spring and what followed was a result of the iraq invasion. There is no reason to think that syria wouldn't be in a civil war right now if saddam was still around. And assad, whether he's a pos or not, is still better (for us) than his opposition. that's sad cause I would like to side with those who are 'fighting against tyranny', but everything is backwards over in the sandbox lol. Look at who the egyptians elected after they got rid of mubarak.. the muslim brotherhood for fucks sake. it's a good thing the military put a stop to that.

Take note children. The above is what a rational considerate discussion looks like.
