I just had a couple thoughts. Maybe you guys can add something.

I live in MS. Lots of rednecks LOTS down here. Even more black people. So one could assume that racial tension is high.

Well thats just not the case.

I do hear a good bit of racial jokes but thats about as far as it goes most of the time.

Anyhow, People down here like their golf and they like their movies.

take a guess who everyones favorite golfer is.

    yep, TIGER.

Wanna know who most people favorite actor is, local boy Morgan Freeman.

I know these guys arent running for president but I betcha they would have a better chance down here than Barack Obama.

    What do you guys think?

  2. It sounds like what they admire is hard work and talent. Period.

  3. Then they should love Obama. The guy graduated magna cum laude and made it to the State Senate and Federal Senate.

Obama worked hard in the world of corrupt Chicago poiltics. Obama worked hard to funnell public monies into privite Black churches.

Obama worked hard to quiet all his friends and hide all his college work.

Obama worked hard to hide his black family members.

Obama worked hard to hide muslims from his rallies.

Obama worked hard to set up and fund Acorn who are cheating for him

BD, I see your point. I do not know why these people are not pro Obama.

I only know that it is not because he is black.

Wow, talk about behind the times throwbacks. :D

  7. I'll take the last point first: his campaign hires a polling company which isn't actually ACORN, isn't a non-profit as ACORN is, has a different board from ACORN.

And from that, the Republicans tell their supporters "he funds ACORN."

Let's deconstruct your argument. He's "hiding" things and he's "cheating" and because he's from Chicago he's "corrupt." If he's "hiding" things why do you know about them? If he's "cheating" in some manner then why isn't McCain addressing this? If someone can be "corrupt" just because they're from Chicago that makes millions in Chicago corrupt.

  8. Pretty ridiculous thread.

Oprah is more popular than all of them combined...

The absurdity of thinking because someone is popular in the entertainment/sports field would therefore make them a qualified politician is as ridiculous as thinking a B movie actor would make a popular president (Reagan), or that an action hero movie star former Mr. Universe who can barely speak English could become the governor of California (Ahnold) or that a former wrestler would become governor of Minnesota (Jesse Ventura) or that a formic Saturday Night Live writer and comic could become a US senator from Minnesota (Al Franken).

You people don't really think that Americans are stupid enough to vote for celebrities to run our country...you don't think the voters are that dumb...do you?

  9. Mccain worked hard help people like charles keating

Mccain worked hard to take attention off the fact that he graduated at the bottom of his class at the navel academy and was almost kicked out nemerous times but was allowed to stay because his dad and granddad were admirals

Mccain worked hard to hide the crippled and disfigured wife that he cheated on and abandoned

Mccain works hard to keep certain people out of his rallies

Pre-emptive ejection: Audience members removed at McCain rally in Cedar Falls

“I saw a couple that had been escorted out and they were confused as well, and the girl was crying, so I said ‘Why are you crying? and she said ‘I already voted for McCain, I’m a Republican, and they said we had to leave because we didn’t look right,’” Elborno said. “They were handpicking these people and they had nothing to go off of, besides the way the people looked.”

ZZZZZZzzzzz you evidently missed the point.

Maybe I failed to make the point.

I never intended to say people in the south would vote for either of the two people I mentioned.

I meant to make the point that people in the south like the two people I mentioned. Even though they are black.

I'll take it one step further for you and say that many white people in the south like colin powell. Even though he is black.

The point is people down here are not as racist as the world thinks.

And yet they are not supporting Barack Obama very much.

That is the point, that leads to the question, why not.

PS Oprah is not as well liked here as elswhere. She is seen as pompous and controling and biased. MOstly by men but to some degree by women also. And she is from MS.
