Grocery stores are fleeing Minneapolis creating food deserts amid the high theft, lack of policing and rampant crime. The Defund the Police scam is going so well.

  3. Sounds like a city that if it had its sh#t together could have worked with the private sector to find a solution. Like most cities, they have a community development department. What did they do or are they doing to help out. The whole purpose of all that fed and state grant and incentive money to help businesses that provided needed services. Not sayin the government should be in the grocery store business. Just that the company alleges that they are leaving because their lease is up and the store "will not accommodate the larger product offering" that they want to implement.

Maybe the black and low income neighborhoods their in Minneapolis need to spend more time on getting their own frigging city to help them- by providing economic development incentives where needed- rather than trying to focusing on riots and burning white-owned business down.

Don't know. Poor reporting here. I did not hear the store say they had a theft problem. They said their lease was up and they wanted to expand. If they could do some real reporting and talk with the city about how they have reached out to the store (or not) and whether their stated reason for leaving is the real reason (or not), that would be great. The lefties in Minneapolis would spend ten million to put statues of Malcolm X in parks (think Boston Common) but won't spend a dime to incentivize a business to remain or help them find a better location in the neighborhood.

Does their zoning not designate and reserve some area in that part of town for such essential activities? And are their tax-incentive programs for building of essential service structures? Do some work for your citizens for crisesake.

Oh, and don't burn down any existing stores too. Just a thought.

Never good when one of the Congressional reps from Minneapolis district is Ilhan Omar. It shows the mentality. I could say that it is not a federal issue but I am not sure. Go over to the City Planning and Community Development Office there and see how many millions in federal grant programs they are managing.
