If Bernie gets screwed with some shenanigans they'll burn Milwaukee to the f'n ground and that's no B.S. They'll got nuts and the DNC already knows this which has them freaked out. Short of a serious heath issue or death I'm calling Sanders the nominee and then what? The dems are stuck trying to convince the average working class democrat to vote against their best interests. Vote Blue no matter who is a tough sell. Anyone punching a time clock for a living is going to get hosed. They will lose their company provided healthcare, end up with worse coverage, pay more in taxes and premiums, deductibles. After that they can get used to seeing another column on their check stub for "free tuition". Then they can pay more in a direct tax at the pump for the Green New Deal. They'll also watch their 401K get crushed and unemployment go through the roof. So what can the establishment do but say, vote for Sanders and hope none of his polices ever see the light of day? Don't see that making everyone all amped up to go and vote for the commie. And that isn't even all their problems. Anyone but Sanders doesn't get the full support of the lunatic wing which is a full 25% of the democratic base. The loons stay home and Trump waltzes in. Do I think this means Trump is a lock? Absolutely not! Wouldn't be the first time people walked into a shit-storm hoping for something other than the obvious outcome.
They wont get violent imo but if Bernie gets the most votes and not the nomination Trump wins a 2nd term because millions including myself will stay home.
Yep. Bernie likes to tout over and over and over that he will support the nominee, regardless. Okay fine. Try polling your supporters and let me know what the answer is for them. So far it seems to be that a fair number can be switched over to Elizabeth Warren, but anyone else and the numbers fall off mighty quick and steeply. And to your point, the problem with Bernie supporters is not just one of people staying home rather than vote for the nominee. It is worse than that. They are not going to vote for the nominee and many will actively work against the nominee rather than just not vote. And some will flat out vote for Trump. Yup. I said it. You heard me. 12% did so in 2016 - it is estimated. Who thinks that number would not be at least triple that if Bernie is triply fucked over this time? You can get back to me later. Things do take on a life of their owns sometimes when the dems- the Party of Unity and Kumbaya - get together.
Let me play devil's advocate. What if the Democrats decide in order to unify the party, they allow Bernie Sanders to actually, win the nomination instead? All Bernie Sanders supporters will be joyous and see all the rainbow unicorns flying over their heads and be giddy. However, the hedge fund CEOs who already threatened to turn off the money spigot even some saying they will instead, support President Donald Trump. Mind you, the filthy rich extreme liberals can live with the policies of President Donald Trump and do very well. However, they cannot take a chance that Bernie Sanders actually wins and become the President of the United States. That would be a disaster for them. So now, enter the numerous Super Pacs who do not have to declare who funds it and supports it, starts launching various attack ads at Bernie Sanders and his extreme Socialist views. Bernie Sanders supporters will be livid and pissed off but, they do not know who to be livid and pissed off at because they do not know who is funding the Super Pacs. You know there will be recriminations and finger pointing since, they do not know who is doing it?
Interesting, especially since I have been wondering about the exact opposite scenario. I guess this is what it is like when we look at possibilities not presented in roboposts. I have started to wonder what it would look like if they just get into a mexican stand-off, hope that term is not too racist. I mean, the brokered convention process is supposed to be reiterative, ie. you hold a vote, then keep going again and again until you can arrive at a majority but what if at a certain point the parties just get locked in and do not want to relinquish any votes knowing that it would give a majority to someone else who they do not want, all while knowing they cannot form a majority alone? Maybe there are DNC rules on the next step. Or maybe someone knows the answer and can just tell me and set me straight. Does this just go to the DNC governing committee or whatever it is called for vote by them or what? And if a smart person here or a googler know the answer, that is fine on one level and educates me, but on another level what difference does it make if the DNC can change any rule, on anything, anytime, even right in the middle of an election as it clearly is already doing. Answer me dat too if you think you know the answer. WHAT A FRIGGING MESS. "So far things are not lookin' good." - James Carville.
