Might want to revisit that thesis The three younger generations – those ages 18 to 53 in 2018 – reported casting 62.2 million votes, compared with 60.1 million cast by Baby Boomers and older generations. It’s not the first time the younger generations outvoted their elders: The same pattern occurred in the 2016 presidential election.
I am heartened by the numbers you quote! But of course we must not forget we don't elect our presidents democratically so that merely having more votes does not guarantee a victory; exactly as our founders wanted when they left how to apportion electors up to the states.. Actually I am hoping with we can hold out long enough for the older voters to die in sufficient numbers that the ones who are younger now will thoroughly dominate. My concern is that the Republicans will have so screwed with the Courts by that point that it may be impossibly to stop our headlong drift into plutocratic fascism.
Either way our 60% voter participation is still sad given our democracy.....our usual average going back over a few elections is closer to 50% so half don't give a shit or do not want to bother and a few % just cannot make it out, but most just stay home. I bet the % would increase if they moved it to a Saturday or made it a national holiday.
Yes. It should be a national holiday. Why not move Presidents day to November and vote on Presidents day?
I agree. Conservatives, who mostly work on Tuesdays won't have to worry about it. Most democrats don't have to worry about working, so it shouldn't make much of a difference.
What might be interesting is the question of whether democrats decided not to work because they are democrats, or whether those not working decided to be democrats because they weren't working? As we know from a sample size of one, Republicans are always driven by the work ethic, work is what they live for. They work themselves to the bone, as they have no time to eat or for trivial pursuits such as grabbing pussies. Prime example: our workaholic President. I mean, between non-stop golf and non-stop tweeting when does the guy get a chance to eat. He somehow manages it, if the specter of a 300lb orange baboon is any indication. But how?
That TDS thing is something that you guys have a hang-up over. I'm not a psychiatrist so I can't help. I did tone my remarks re the "orange Baboon" down a wee bit. Didn't want to be rude.
Hmm, if you want her to blind you with science Mr Dolby, probably should change your tack, not tact. Actually, tact could work.
Thanks for welcoming me back. How about the idea that people vote for Trump because he is not Biden and as a FU to the establishment and the media? The Presidential race now seems like a Special Olympics contest between two contestants who seem to believe the one who F-ups the most, wins. Anyway, I'm going to focus on issues that should be addressed for the benefit of most people instead of pure politics, especially avoiding Party and Presidential politics.
