Andrew Sullivan: “We are at a stage in this pandemic when we are trying to persuade the hold-outs — disproportionately white Republicans/evangelicals and urban African-Americans — to get vaccinated. How do we best do this? Endless, condescending nagging won’t help. Coercion is not an option in a free country. Since the vaccinated appear to be able to transmit the virus as well, vaccine passports lose their power to remove all risk. Forcing all the responsible people to go back to constraining their everyday lives for the sake of the vaccine-averse is both unfair and actually weakens the incentive to get a vaccine, because it lowers the general risk of getting it in the broader society.”

“So the obviously correct public policy is to let mounting sickness and rising deaths concentrate the minds of the recalcitrant. Let reality persuade the delusional and deranged. It has a pretty solid record of doing just that.”

“The government cannot be held responsible for sickness and death it has already provided the means to avoid. People are responsible for their own lives.”

Conservative talk radio host Phil Valentine remains hospitalized in his battle with COVID-19 and was placed on a ventilator earlier this week “out of an abundance of caution,” WTVF reports.

Valentine previously advised listeners to get vaccinated only if they thought they would likely die from COVID-19.

His brother, Mark Valentine, said the radio host regrets not being an advocate for vaccination.

Mark Valentine wrote on Facebook this afternoon that his brother now needs an ECMO machine, similar to a heart-lung by-pass device used in open-heart surgery.

There are actually surveys showing that deaths and hospitalizations of family members and friends from Covid will not convince Trumpers to get vaccinated. As an example — take a look at all the conservative churches where members died of Covid and the minister & congregation go right on preaching anti-vax material.

Surveys have shown the one thing that will get the anti-vaxxers to get a vaccine is restrictions on the unvaccinated in public. If you require proof of vaccination to enter bars, stores, restaurants, public venues, and workplaces then these anti-vaxxers will get the jab.

Breakthrough viruses in the vaccinated may create a more deadly virus...
    per GWBe-afearmonger... "experts".

You all can quit blaming the unvaccinated who wanted to see more data.
So tired of judgemental holier than the non vaccinated bullshit.
Many of you are the worst examples of human beings.
This is crisis and your team if failing the fuck out of this.
We should have let the low risk live their lives and protected the high risk better.

Now are you morons still saying healthy young kids should be vaccinated?

Some of you are fear filled scum trying to saddle healthy young kids who mostly experience a mild form of illness or less... with the burden of taking an experimental vaccine because of your life style choices or your long life.

*( I am not addressing those born with pre-existing conditions.)

You know, chickenpox is a fairly mild infection. It's not that bad, but super-contagious. Like nobody dies from the thing. All it will usually do to a kid is cause them to have those little pustules all over their body, and if they burst while itching them, because they are horribly itchy, is leave a scar on the skin.

Fast forward some decades later, and they are at high risk to develop shingles. Shingles is 1,000 times worse than chickenpox. It is a devastating disease which can ruin a person's life until the end of their days.

These days, there is a chickenpox vaccine readily available for kids. And once they get that shot, they will no longer be susceptible to getting shingles when they get old.

    So...Let's look at this logically.

Get a mild infection of the CPox and risk getting a life-destroying disease later in life, or JUST GET THE DARN CPOX SHOT and have no risk of getting the way-more destructive shingles infection?

    Hrmm. The choice seems clear.

It could be the same thing with COVID. I guess it will take a few decades to know the difference between the kids who got the shot before being infected versus those who did not, to figure out if COVID will lead to something similar much later in life. Will COVID lead to the susceptibility of getting something more sinister in the coronavirus family of virii?

"Jem" is obviously mentally ill the whining will never end. There is no doubt that topics like politics and Covid nobody in his direct family or close friends ( if he has any ) would ever purposely bring them up in his presence.
