Are you planning on standing right next to your Brother who fills paper and has lots of opening market orders to fill ? If so, fine. If not, why not just save the time and hassle and money and trade electronically ? There is no "edge" or advantage to being on the floor otherwise. In fact, there are some serious disadvantages to it if you are new and do not have direct close proximity to floor brokers.
