After several years...everybody gets back to living a normal life. Most are vaccinated as the anti-vaxxers slowly creep back into the gutter waiting for the next global pandemic to start the same crap all over again. Simply, they'll be back again for the next Pandemic with their anti-vaxxer stupidity, conspiracy theories, the world is going to end and miracle cures. You would think people would now know that it was just a radio broadcast (today aka Podcast) or some cooky farmer trying to scare the hell out of the local village people...not the end of the world as they thought after listening to those dimwits. It's strange...there have been Pandemics that have wiped out a large percentage of the population without vaccination and the world survived because the rich were able to hide (wait it out) in seclusion or somewhere remote...away from their community...away from other people. Later, other Pandemics showed up but this time we had vaccinations for those without money and not able to isolate. They then rioted and created anti-vaxx organizations until it became so bad that they had no choice but to take the vaccines for survival. Moderna says updated Covid-19 vaccine booster shows stronger antibody response against Omicron (CNN) Moderna said on Wednesday its bivalent Covid-19 vaccine booster that contained a vaccine targeting the Omicron variant showed a stronger immune response against the variant. Bivalent boosters address two viral strains in the same vaccine. The updated booster contains Moderna's original vaccine, and a vaccine candidate that targets the Omicron variant. The vaccine was generally well-tolerated, the company said, with side effects similar to booster doses of the current vaccine. The 50-microgram bivalent booster, called mRNA-1273.214, generated a stronger antibody response against Omicron than the original Moderna vaccine. Omicron subvariants are driving virtually all the new Covid-19 cases in the United States right now. Stéphane Bancel, chief executive officer of Moderna, said in a news release "we anticipate more durable protection against variants of concern with mRNA-1273.214, making it our lead candidate for a Fall 2022 booster." He said the company will submit its preliminary data and analysis to regulators so that the Omicron-containing bivalent booster will be available in late summer. The US Food and Drug Administration's vaccine advisers are set to meet June 28 to discuss whether coronavirus vaccine compositions should be modified for fall 2022. The approval comes about a month after an FDA advisory panel unanimously recommended the vaccine, a two-dose regimen that was shown to be 90.4% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 infection. "Today’s authorization offers adults in the United States who have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccine another option that meets the FDA’s rigorous standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality needed to support emergency use authorization," FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert M. Califf said Wednesday. Novavax's vaccine is a more traditional protein vaccine that uses similar technology to what has been used for decades to fight diseases like hepatitis B and shingles. The two most popular vaccines, made by Pfizer and Moderna, use messenger RNA, or mRNA, to deliver genetic instructions to an individual's immune system to produce its own copies of the spike protein that is found on the surface of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. A fourth vaccine option made by Johnson & Johnson is a viral vector vaccine, but the FDA advisory panel recommended Moderna and Pfizer's vaccines over Johnson & Johnson's in December due to a rare blood clotting disorder. Some health officials are hopeful that Novavax's more traditional vaccine will appeal to the roughly 24 million American adults who haven't received a dose of any vaccine yet. "The Novavax COVID-19 vaccine offers an option to individuals who may have an allergic reaction to mRNA vaccines or who have a personal preference for receiving a vaccine other than a mRNA-based vaccine," the Department of Health and Human Services said last week. About 3.2 million doses of Novavax's vaccine have already been ordered by the federal government. They will be released once the CDC gives final approval in the coming weeks.
