Vaccines work well in North America to minimize the risk of Hospitalization and Death. Currently, most states have increasing hospitalizations and deaths in those that are not vaccinated. The US Army Walter Reid has a history of good work on vaccinations in the history of the United States. They had the first organized vaccination program since the revolutionary war...fighting smallpox. wrbtrader
To provide some context -- it appears that mRNA vaccines are still good at stopping the spread of Omicron (but less effective) however non-mRNA vaccines (Astra, J&J, plus vaccines from China & Russia) appear to not stop the spread as all. All of this, of course, based on initial studies and this information could change. However the non-mRNA vaccine manufacturers are rushing ahead with updated vaccines to target Omicron. AstraZeneca, Oxford aim to produce Omicron-targeted vaccine https://www.reuters.com/business/he...-work-omicron-targeted-vaccine-ft-2021-12-21/
I should edit this statement as it reads poorly but I can’t so here is the correction: SARs/Covid vaccine that protects against all KNOWN variants. It’s a unique approach they have developed over at USAWR. They’re using a multi faced protein to attach various spikes from the known strains of Covid. Interesting.
WHO says vaccine booster programs will prolong Covid crisis: ‘No country can boost its way out of the pandemic’ WHO officials criticized blanket Covid vaccine booster programs as poor countries struggle to obtain initial immunization shots. The officials warning vaccine inequality could lead to the emergence of more mutant variants. The comments from the WHO come as health officials in the U.S. promote vaccine booster shots amid a surge in Covid cases caused by the omicron strain.
A new type of vaccine may be coming soon. https://www.defenseone.com/technolo...ctive-against-all-covid-sars-variants/360089/
This has got to be one of the idiotic things posted on the Internet recently. It is literally a call for people to kill themselves rather than getting vaccinated. First let's take a look at the facts. South Africa has the largest data set regarding Omicron at this time. There are a large number of hospitalized patients in South Africa with Omicron. 6% of the these patients are in ICU. The majority of patients in ICU do not survive. While the percentage of those hospitalized with Omicron may be lower than Delta and the percentage in ICU has dropped from above 18% with Delta to 6% with Omicron -- the misery, severe illness and death with Omicron is still high due to the sheer numbers. Trying to claim that Omicron causes "no hospitalizations", "no critical patients", and "no oxygenation" is absurd and we should just "get everyone exposed" is the height of stupidity.
