  1. I don't know what the exact situtation is in florida. Last I knew there were a lot of secret flights and you had to trust that everything was okay with testing and background checks and all of that and beyond that no details.

Otherwise, the administration has worked overtime to give as confusing statements as possible about the status of covid testing of illegals. You are always easy to assure that the good things that they say are true on even numbered days, even though they say the exact opposite on odd numbered days. We even went through or are still going through this ridiculous period where we are told that many of them are not being tested because they are not intending to be here long term, even though they are releasing them into the interior.

Delaying second dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine produces stronger immune response
    https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-12-dose-mrna-covid-vaccine-stronger.html

The first peer-reviewed study in North America examining the timing between the first and second doses of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines shows that a longer dose interval leads to a stronger immune response.
The study is funded by the Government of Canada through its COVID-19 Immunity Task Force (CITF).

Principal investigator Dr. Brian Grunau, Assistant Professor in UBC's Department of Emergency Medicine and Scientist at the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences, indicates that these results—published today in Clinical Infectious Diseases—could inform ongoing international COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

The peer-reviewed study compared blood test results from a total of 186 paramedics, some of whom were vaccinated within the earlier recommended interval of less than four weeks, and others who received their second doses after six to seven weeks.

"We found significantly higher levels of antibodies in individuals who had longer vaccine intervals, and this was consistent regardless of which mRNA vaccine was administered," said Dr. Grunau.

mRNA vaccines include the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine and the Moderna Spikevax vaccine. Although antibody levels are only one way to measure the body's immune response, they play a very important role.

    Trade-off between vaccination strategies

These findings have implications for the ongoing global vaccination effort, as half the world's population has yet to be vaccinated. Widening the recommended vaccine dosing interval has the potential to lead to a stronger long-term immune response in individuals and will also facilitate faster community-level access to the first vaccine dose.

"This longer interval strategy enables early access to first doses in the population and ensuring the best protection possible with the two-dose series," added Dr. Grunau.

Although measures of immunity are correlated with the risk of contracting COVID-19, this study did not assess actual breakthrough infections.

    Informing immunization strategy decisions

Study participants are enrolled in the larger COVID-19 Occupational Risks, Seroprevalence and Immunity among Paramedics (CORSIP) project, a national study examining how the pandemic has impacted paramedics. The team is co-led by Dr. Grunau and Dr. David Goldfarb, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UBC and Medical Microbiologist and Infectious Disease Specialist at BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, as well as Drs. Tracy Kirkham and Paul Demers from the University of Toronto. They began recruiting paramedics less than 10 months ago, but researchers continue to provide data in real-time to the CITF to determine if there are implications for policy decisions.

While this constant stream of new information can make things difficult when making public health decisions, it has been rewarding for researchers to see their efforts translate into clinically relevant findings.

"That is the real goal of any researcher," said Dr. Grunau. "We want to do research that will actually positively impact people's lives and affect policy."

"These results support the decisions across many jurisdictions in Canada for first doses fast with an extended dosing interval," said Dr. Tim Evans, CITF Executive Director. "The results are also very important in informing the roll out of vaccines in other countries where extending the dose interval may help to promote vaccine equity."

Cuba to upgrade homegrown COVID-19 vaccine to confront Omicron
    https://www.reuters.com/world/ameri...covid-19-vaccine-confront-omicron-2021-12-01/

HAVANA, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Cuban health authorities said that researchers in the communist-run country are upgrading its homegrown COVID vaccines to ensure protection against the new Omicron variant.

The Caribbean island nation, whose economy hinges on tourism, sharply eased entry requirements in mid-November following a successful inoculation drive with domestically developed vaccines. Both infections and deaths from COVID-19 have dropped off to 2% or less of their peaks, according to a Reuters tally.

Vicente Verez, director of Cuba's Finlay Institute for Vaccines, said on Tuesday on state-run media it was clear that Cuba's Soberana vaccine would continue to provide "a certain level of protection" against Omicron, but said the extent of that protection was still uncertain.

“We decided as of last week to start developing a Soberana Plus variant having the Omicron RBD protein," Verez said, referring to the receptor-binding domain (RBD), a key part of the virus located on its "spike". "We have already started it, and that protein is being built at the moment."

Some global vaccine manufacturers, including BioNTech(22UAy.DE), have expressed guarded confidence that their vaccines would offer strong protection against Omicron. Others, like Moderna (MRNA.O), have raised the prospect of a material drop in protection. read more

It is not yet clear whether Omicron is more transmissible than other variants, or if it causes more severe disease.

Cuba has developed an unusually large biotech sector for a country its size, partly in a bid for sovereignty given crippling U.S. sanctions. It has made vaccines available to several of its allies, including Venezuela, Nicaragua and Iran.

Cuba has yet to detect the Omicron variant, but earlier this week announced it would tighten restrictions beginning Dec. 4 on passengers from certain African countries due to the new variant. read more\

Teenagers from remote NT community arrested after escape from Howard Springs COVID quarantine facility

Northern Territory police say they don't believe three teenagers who allegedly absconded from Darwin's Howard Springs COVID-19 quarantine facility this morning came into contact with members of the community.

At a COVID update press conference, NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner confirmed the teenagers, aged 15, 16 and 17, tested negative for the virus yesterday.

He said all three were from the Binjari community near Katherine and had been sent into quarantine as close contacts of positive cases.

NT Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker said officers found the trio on the edge of Palmerston and arrested them after a chase on foot.

He said the young people are still being interviewed but "early indications" were they had not had any contact with members of the public.

    .....

Mr Gunner said the isolation in quarantine was "pretty hard for some people ... used to being close to family and community."

He said the escape could mean an extension of the time the teenagers were required to stay in quarantine.

"Absconding from Howard Springs isn't just dangerous — it is incredibly stupid," he said.

"Because we will catch you and there will be consequences."

What's all this interest in Africa, South Africa, Austria, and Australia ?

I don't have much of an interest in what's going on in those countries involving their politics, covid restrictions and covid itself but I do find it interesting that a few here do. :sneaky:

Maybe it's me but I'm more worried about what's occurring here in North America (Canada and the United States) in our own backyard...France too but that's more personal.

Wallet, seriously...you worried about Covid camps being setup in the United States or camps aimed at specific ethnic groups for vaccination ???

It’s the utopian dream for vax-nazis and where they’d like to take the country. Just trying to make GWB’s day in case he missed the news.

Why do you continually defend GWB?

So let's get this straight - -you don't believe in basic proper public health practices -- you believe that people with deadly, highly-infectious diseases should not be quarantined and should be freely wandering around society endangering others and spreading the disease. Should I remind you of the U.S.'s long history of locking down infected people in quarantine -- either in their homes or in government locations -- when facing other deadly pandemics, including checks to prove the people were not outside their designated quarantine location.

Why do you continue becoming defensive when I ask questions about your background and interests as "defending GWB" ???
    • Seriously, if you don't want to answer the questions, I'm OK with that. Yet, your obsession with GWB is starting to get a bit strange.
Note: My question had nothing to do with GWB nor did I mention his username...it was about your interests.

With that said, I strongly doubt your illusion of vax-nazis in the United States will take the country to that of Australia if that's what you meant...creation of Covid Detention camps.

P.S. I believe we have more anti-vax nazis than we have pro-vax nazis. The former is more active in protesting but that in itself may be why I believe there are more anti-vax nazis here in North America.

P.S.S. The more I think about this...our Hospitals and Nursing Homes here in North America are like Covid Detention Camps...they lockdown when there's an outbreak. :(

So let’s get this straight, you believe it’s permissible for the federal government to violate a persons constitutional rights with forcible incarceration, separating them from family and society, over a virus that is no more deadly than a cold to people who have been vaccinated?

I believe the term is “internment camps”.

    Enough of your draconian bullcrap.
