Pfizer Says New Vaccine Can Be Ready in 100 Days to Counter Vaccine-Escape Variants
    https://www.mediaite.com/news/pfize...-100-days-to-counter-vaccine-escape-variants/

As concerns over a new coronavirus variant sent the stock market into a downward spiral Friday, its worst day of 2021 so far, Pfizer and partner Biotech offered a potential sigh of relief, saying that “in the event that a vaccine-escape variant emerges” they can have a new vaccine ready in 100 days.

“We expect more data from the laboratory tests in two weeks at the latest. These data will provide more information about whether B.1.1.529 could be an escape variant that may require an adjustment of our vaccine if the variant spreads globally,” Pfizer said in a statement Friday.

The B.1.1.529 coronavirus variant, first discovered in Botswana and dubbed Omicron by the World Health Organization resulted in various travel restrictions, including the U.S. banning all flights from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.

Omicron has world health officials concerned as initial data shows the variant contains more mutations to the spike protein. These mutations may mean Omicron can be resistant to the current vaccines, which have allowed countries worldwide to end lockdowns and loosen public health restrictions.

“As always, we will continue to follow the science as we examine the best approaches to protecting people against COVID-19,” Pfizer said in a statement to Fox Business. “In the event that vaccine-escape variant emerges, Pfizer and BioNTech expect to be able to develop and produce a tailor-made vaccine against that variant in approximately 100 days, subject to regulatory approval.”

Reuters reported that Moderna Inc also said Friday it is “working to advance a booster candidate tailored to the new variant and has also been testing a higher dose of its existing booster and to study other booster candidates designed to protect against multiple variants.”

Again we don’t know that “immunity” actually fades, only antibodies. Human immunity is deeper than antibodies. There is t and B cell protection that can last a lifetime.

You can read the previous information I have posted from respected scientists on T and B cell response (it is not immunity). The very foundation on how long-term immunity works (vaccinated or natural) is around anti-bodies; not T or B cell response.

I am not — anti-Vaxxers like Jem pushed this Covid T-cell “immunity” nonsense as some secret protection that occurs even when a person has no anti-bodies from a natural infection — whining about how we weren’t accounting for the magical “T-cell immunity” which would magically protect people against Covid reinfection months later. Well no it doesn’t— no antibodies then no protection. T-cell response exists, long-term “T-cell immunity” does not. Calling T-cell response T-cell immunity does not make it so — even when confusing what it implies in scientific papers and documents. The presence of anti-bodies (long term) trigger T and B cell responses to attack the virus when it is encountered again — no antibodies then no trigger. T-cells are effectively short-term from a “memory” and presence perspective.

Since I had to endure this nonsense being pushed by Jen for over a year — I have posted over time a large set of proper scientific papers which explain it in detail which you can easily search and reference.

I will also note that for every virus on earth where a vaccine exists — a test for antibodies is used to determine if an vaccinated individual is protected against the disease. So if your mumps shot did not take or your measles immunity has waned — an antibody level test is used to see if you are immune or not. They do not test for T or B cells to see if you are immune.

We need to put the absurd claims that T-cells will magically protect you from Covid reinfection even when you have no antibodies (or a very low level of antibodies) into the trash bin of history. These claims are no more true than the claims that injecting bleach will cure you of Covid.

    Totally wrong:

COVID survivors with natural immunity at low risk for reinfection or severe symptoms, study finds
Reinfections had 90% lower odds of resulting in hospitalization or death, The New England Journal of Medicine study found.
Patients who survived COVID-19 have such strong natural immunity that their chance of reinfection or serious side effects is minimal, according to a new studypublished in The New England Journal of Medicine.

The study conducted by researchers in Qatar reviewed global databases for 353,000 coronavirus patients who were infected between Feb. 28, 2020 and April 28, 2021.

The researchers excluded about 87,500 people who were vaccinated, and found of the remaining population only 1,304 got reinfected, with none requiring ICU hospitalization.

“Reinfections had 90% lower odds of resulting in hospitalization or death than primary infections,”the researchers said. “…Reinfections were rare and were generally mild, perhaps because of the primed immune system after primary infection.”

“Accordingly, for a person who has already had a primary infection, the risk of having a severe reinfection is only approximately 1% of the risk of a previously uninfected person having a severe primary infection,” the study concluded.

The researchers said it still needs to be determined “whether such protection against severe disease at reinfection lasts for a longer period, analogous to the immunity that develops against other seasonal ‘common-cold’ coronaviruses, which elicit short-term immunity against mild reinfection but longer-term immunity against more severe illness with reinfection.”

Such a finding could be significant, the researchers suggested, because it could mean COVID-19 could eventually “adopt a more benign pattern of infection when it becomes endemic.”

This is just one study of many. I have posted numerous studies which use larger data sets showing that vaccination is more effective than "natural immunity". You can go review these other studies. Recent examples of news articles outlining studies showing Covid vaccination being more effective than natural immunity include 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and dozens of others

I will note that you have nothing to say further about "T-call immunity" - obviously you understand you are completely incorrect on your assertions.

Let me state it once again -- when you go to your doctor to determine if you have an immunity against a viral disease whether it is measles, mumps, Covid-19 or any other disease -- they perform an anti-body level test. The presence of anti-bodies at sufficient levels means you are currently immune to a disease -- it does not matter if the immunity was conferred by vaccination or an earlier natural infection. They do not test for T or B cell levels -- because these do not provide long-term immunity but merely establish that you currently or recently had the disease or were vaccinated.
