I don't want to over-trade and being down and getting out + is a win for me. At some point when I have some losing days(following the plan) I will be able to determine if I need to be pushing my average daily net up. If so, having a few daily sessions might be the answer. Right now I try to do my work and get out.
Good deal. Keep up the good work! If it's okay with you, I'll keep supporting you on this thread. I have a few things to work on myself so I may add some posts on occasion if that is acceptable.
So since November 20, 2018, I have recorded every single trade I have taken in all accounts - futures, forex, options, ETFs. Everything but forex has been recorded in Trademetria; all forex trades since January 1, 2019 have been recorded in Edgewonk. I have done some journaling as well but the discipline of recording the trades was a major shift for me. I'm not a full-time trader. Next step is that I follow my checklist which I'm going to keep simple to establish more discipline. I will check each major market that I follow (S&P500, Nasdaq 100, Gold, Oil and Bonds) on 2 time frame workspace templates each day between 3:15-4:00 p.m. EST. There are some other markets, time frames and indicators that I look at but I want to make sure I am at least looking at those 2 workspaces / time frames EACH day for those markets at those times.
Tuesday 01/29/19 Followed Plan (8 days in a row) + $ Not too happy about today. I think I entered a questionable area where I had too many shares at once. Still stayed close to plan, but I need to manage risk better than I did today.
Today was the first day I stepped right in front of a fed announcement (right before 2:00 p.m. EST) and took a position and wasn't gambling. Had a buy signal on my charts and just took it without worrying about it.
Did make one mistake today that cost me. Had a potential sell signal on 30-year bond futures but the signal didn't "complete" until 5:00 p.m. EST. I ended up "anticipating" the signal and got in too early at 4:01 p.m. and it ran against me, whereas if I had waited, I would have had a much lower risk entry.
Wednesday 01/31/19 First: Followed Plan and was +$ (Very Good) Second: Got off plan--corrected myself by getting out of trades or lowering shares (Bad then Corrected=Good) -$ Third: Got off plan again....added 50 x's the plans share size. +$ (Bad) Previous 10 days were pretty good. Looking to build on that and make definite notes and corrections from Wednesday.
