Clark county sales tax is 7.25%. I have no clue how the car registration is calculated and even after asking the DMV workers point blank they couldn't tell me. The best rule of thumb estimate I can give is it seems to be approx $150 per $10K of your car's value per year which would put the annual cost of my AMC Gremlin at about $.01-.02.

Vehicle Registration Fees Back To Top

The basic registration fee for vehicles under 6,000 pounds is $33. There is a graduated scale for higher weights. Trailers up to 1,000 pounds are $12; 1,000 or above are $24. Nevada charges $20 for vehicle titles and small fees for items such as license plates.

Nevada also charges taxes based on the value of the vehicle:

Governmental Services Tax--helps fund local government and schools
(approx. 1.4% of the depreciated Manufacturers Retail Price)
Supplemental Governmental Services Tax--helps fund road improvements
(25% of Governmental Services Tax--Clark, Washoe and Churchill counties only)
    Sales Taxes on Purchases
(7.25% on dealer purchases; slightly less in some rural counties, 5.25% or less on private party purchases)
Use our Online Registration Fee Estimates. (Vehicle Identification Number or MSRP is required.)

  8. I was thinking of taking a vacation to Vegas sometime soon but it would be great if I could combine it with some daytrading business in order to get a tax break. Anyone know of anything that's daytrading related that I could go to in Vegas such as a course or seminar?

You may wish to visit some of the daytrading offices here to check out there facilities, services, and suitability to your trading style and needs. By collecting the information and keeping good records of your trip in a file with brochures, etc. your trip may be tax deductible.

Yes, there are seminars here -- all kinds and all prices. If you need more info you are welcome to PM me.

You, will no doubt also hear from Don Bright who will acquaint you with the Bright Trading seminar which is given once or twice a month. I took it -- costs $1,000. If you need an opinion of that seminar PM me and I will respond. (Think it is off topic to include my comments on this thread.)

BTW, most of the comments about Las Vegas as a place to live and trade are incorrectly stated above. Housing is very available both rental and purchase. Very Cheap by most standards. Locals never go to the casinos to gamble unless that is their reason for being in Las Vegas, which is, of course, absurd. The town offers inexpensive living and costs for restaurants etc and are very reasonable. No allergies experienced by me or my family.

Car registration and sales taxes are about the same as most desirable places to live. Other costs like cable or DSL are about the same as well. Cox is very reliable and I have been trading using the mbps service since they came out with it and have never lost money as a result of there service.

There are many tax advantages to trading from here if you are astute at setting yourself up properly. I doubt that the State will commit the suicidal act of not making Las Vegas and Nevada one of the prime states to do business in. Don't really need additional revenue as so much is available from the casinos and tourists. There is talk of raising those taxes to compensate for any shortfalls but the locals would be very up in arms should taxation get anything like California. However, Florida also is tax friendly.

I am going to visit LV for 2 days in the first week of March looking for a rental place, so I can move in the end of April. Need at least 1 br, 1 car garage, DSL, convinient to the strip (like to watch shows & eat), quiet & safe place. Still not clear with which area that I need to focus & whom to contact.
