I will also note that the Washington Post simply wanted the issue to "go away" -- and to large media empires a payment of a million or two is typical to settle an issue and put it in the rear view mirror. They simply view this amount as a minor cost of doing business.

He was overcharged for his level of maturity and that needs deeper scrutiny, the Da is not covered in glory here.

They probably knew only the gun charge had a chance but there as a technicality.

The guy who gave him the gun should take the weight of the punishment but Kyle should have got a few years.

Everyone is too relaxed about guns and what the consequences are of this idiotic attitude.

Even the DA prosecutor in this case was arguing the narrative and not the facts

In his opening statement, prosecutor Thomas Binger said Rittenhouse “chased down Mr. Rosenbaum and confronted him.” But the evidence so far hasn’t really backed that up.

Not a good way to lay out a case to the jury, with a lie...

A lot of top military brass send their kids to Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky even Indigenous Americans...some attend the school from out of state. Just as important, a lot of those kids would then attend the U.S. military academies or ROTC programs at top academic universities.

In addition, its a school that has very strong ties with the Catholic Dioceses in the North.
    • Yet, I don't think this kid is from a military family because something like that would have been mentioned.
My point, that school (those kids) were not going to rollover easy to the media. They were going to fight back because a lot of those kids have respect for Indigenous Americans...some that attend the school are Indigenous Americans.

Something about that original story didn't seem right about the Lincoln Memorial confrontation when it was first discussed here at ET and in the media.

He's probably now spending most of his time chasing the girls across the street from Notre Dame Academy or getting ready to go to college...now all paid for with a new car from the settlement. :D

Regardless, I had heard Nicholas Sandmann family had settled with Washington Post for a low amount of the requested amount in the defamation because the Post had posted follow-up story with the complete truth prior to the lawsuit.

Maybe the lawsuit was refiled ?

It must have been a confidential settlement...we will never know but I will guess it's a few million, guaranteed entry into a military academy along with a few other stuff like a guaranteed internship at the Washington Post / CNN if he goes to college. :D  :p

Big Media always get sued...they have insurance coverage to pay for it all. Lawsuit payouts is probably pocket change to them. Yet, bad publicity hurts much more and its something they typically settle quickly to avoid.

Cons on Travis, he looked better before the makeover for court, neckbeards are cool. Why would you not let this sweet faced boy arrest you, he's practically a navy seal and they are heroes.
