Isn't the US already doing this all by itself with Trump at the helm? I fully believe this can happen any time. I think race relations are a huge problem and it hasn't gotten any better. If anything, given everyone has a cell phone and camera these days, we are shown over and over again how much of a divide there really is. I have been saying over and over again that going forward, the job situation just doesn't look good at all given all the automation just on the horizon. When poor people lose their livelihood, and you have the rich getting even richer at the same time, civil unrest gets more and more possible. With technology these days, its even easier to spread the word and organize. I agree that the US wont be beat on a military front any time soon, but the problems from within I think are almost guaranteed going forward.
The one that scares me most is Korea. The problem there is it's possible for everyone to go in with the genuine intention of restraint but nevertheless it escalates into a war. I do not envy Xi Jinping right now at all--talk about rock and a hard place.
To revisit this old thread, somewhat dedicated to China bears: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...on-his-seven-year-short-a-china-bear-gives-in
I really don't know what Trump is waiting for ? If the time for talking is over then surely there is no other action possible than a strike. He could have taken out the Kim leadership plus generals on their Independence Day last weekend. But no, Nothing happens. Maybe he is massing enough fire power ?
Mark Hart had predicted potential 200% return on Raoul Pal's, Real-Vision and was asking for a minimum of $1M investment. ps I am not a subscriber...
Jim Chanos is still short China and has made some compelling comments at the Delivering Alpha conference about it. He said relatively speaking, it has performed better then other shorts in his book. He has reduced his short exposure there some but still maintains his thesis.
