I have explained why government officials will always be tentative well after the fact. The truth is though, that Italy and Spain, among others have definitely peaked and are on the downside of this crisis.
It seems to me, looking at the "data", that this virus is starting to spread significantly in the US population. I'm sure we are looking at a couple more months of disruption. I have to disagree that a peak has been reached. While it can be argued that increased testing means increased detection the growth of the number of infected people in the US is adhering to scaled exponential growth. I have not seen any US data that shows a diminishment of the number of infected patients. You can't blame Trump for wanting to express optimism and try to reopen business but I think they are explaining to him that our system is not meant to be shutdown and it may be harder to restart than people think. I sense a little panic when the President speaks the last couple of days. He is worried about getting the boilers lit again.
Looks like MLB will make an announcement today or within the nex few days, that the season will start late May/early June with spring training in early May. Games will also run a little later into October/November.
Further evidence today shows that the Wuhan-19 outbreak in both Italy and Spain has already peaked and is clearly on the downside. We now have total confirm of the peak.
Some of these articles begin to cross-pollinate and look very much like earlier and other articles but if it has today's date on it, I assume it is new and different somehow, or a valid update. Spain coronavirus outbreak 'close to peaking': official https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-03-spain-coronavirus-outbreak-peaking.html
Spain was put on complete lock-down today. That is most likely going to bring the famous 'peak' people have been talking about.
Peak of outbreak is already in in Italy and Spain among other places.------Government response and intervention has not peaked. You may be typing in a sarcastic manner. I understand your pointing.
Its not the virus that is a problem, its the response of large populations of crazy people that drove my decisions about where to be and what to do. Katrina showed me everything I needed to see. It didn't take 24 hours for jacked-booted thugs to start knocking on doors asking about guns. When they start arresting people for walking their dogs you can be assured you are in a police state. We trashed our economy and gave up our freedoms because of the flu.
