Or if the deal happens, it might rally as the overhang is eliminated.

I don't like the ACI deal tbh. Acquiring Albertsons is pretty complex, and I fear the FTC will continue to drag its feet. On paper it's a great deal for KR, it's immediately accretive to margins via cost savings in redundancies, buying power will nearly match WMT's, and ultimately the consumers will win. But this Administration is gonna waffle for a myriad of reasons, I just know it will. First and foremost, it's gonna be an election year. I'm afraid KR will have to make more concessions, more promises, and spend a lot more money (and time) to get it done. The ceo remains resolute however sooo... the stock may consolidate around this level or a little lower near term until more light is shed on the deal.

    EDIT:

I was writing at the same time you were.

How can you say that a stock that outperformed the S&P by a factor of three over the last 30 years is not a good long term investment?

because you will not live that long to see another 30 years, for anybody in that matter. remember a&p? a public company too.

I said it is the type of stock someone young needs in their retirement portfolio. Paramount to long term investment success is a diversified portfolio of quality stocks and a few speculative plays. I mean by your logic, buying the S&P would be a horrible investment. Again you don't make any sense.

And so far... we have yet to see you offer up any of your ideas as to what is a great long term investment.
If you have the next NVDA at $15... buy all means, speak up.

i am all in tech now, and es/nq/ym/cl/zn futures. it is what it is, f*k diversification. waste too many years for the brainwashed safety.

if you want diversification, buy xlp or xly, essential to day-to-day living.

I have good memory, especially for jingles....
    Here ya go...

    ♫ "At A&P.... "weo"... where economy originates".♫

    I bet even @Overnight can't find that one. :p

    Edit...
I can't find the jingle, but I can hear it.
This is the closest YouTube comes...
