8 points down in 5 min followed by 6 points up within next 5 min, wow just insane. There was nothing major on news, except Boj negative outlook and Korea sentiment index. Anything new from North?
Rumors of fat finger or war: -Kospi trading sideways on light vol (had 40pts drop on possible error from local side-all recovered). -Unconfirmed rumor in the bond market on breaking of war, and China sending troops to North Korea hit the Kospi hard around 10:40 KST. Seen to have been an exaggerated reproduction of an article in the local media, analyzing the geo-political situation post-Kim Jongil, mentioning voices within China calling for military presence in North Korea. -Other unconfirmed rumor regarding the cause of the drop is that the fat finger trade. What ought to have been a âFutures Sell & Cash Buyâ was mistakenly sent as âFutures Sell & Cash Sellâ order
Has anyone actually set up an account with one of those Korean brokers? I am currently trading KOSPI options with IB, but I'm not too happy with their excessive margin requirement. I can live with the commission rate they are charging, but if the Korean counterparts are charging much less, why pay more? So I was wondering if those who are currently with a Korean broker could share their experience.
You should have seen the margin when it was originally launched to US traders. It was a double. The current one is fine, considering the tick value and its moves.
IB's margin requirements for futures are perfectly fine. But, for some reason, their margin requirements for options are simply ridiculus. For instance, IB's commission for the Nikkei options traded on OSE beats any Japanese broker hands down, but because IB require 2 to 3 times the span margin imposed by the exchange, it's very uneconomical to trade those Nikkei options with IB.
Hi Got an account with IB in Euro usually trading the Bunds and looking to add the Kospi. How does it work with the intra day exchange rates, the Won does not seem to fluctuate to badly against the Euro, still I do not want any for example short profits eareased by a falling Won? Anybody any experience with this? Thx
