Hello, I have recently started trading kospi futures on my IB simulation account, and have experienced poor execution. Today, I was disconnected (cell grids turn pink on IB TWS) and could not get my orders to be acknowledged by IB despite multiple cancellations and resends. The status box just hangs at grey saying "order not yet acknowledged". This was very frustrating given that my stop limit order slipped and I missed my stop loss price. I immediately submitted a market order but was met with the "order not yet acknowledged" problem. How can you guys day trade kospi with IB? 2 disconnects today cost me 20 ticks of hard earned money. It's a day trader's nightmare. Thanks darkwood for your korean brokers recommendations. I looked through their sites and noticed they all needed a "standing proxy". All lacked clear instructions on how to set up such a proxy though. Has anyone done this yet and has a broker with reliable execution to recommend for trading kospi?

The status box just hangs at grey saying "order not yet acknowledged". This was very frustrating given that my stop limit order slipped and I missed my stop loss price. I immediately submitted a market order but was met with the "order not yet acknowledged" problem. I was caught long for over 30mins while trying to restart TWS/ windows,/ NT7. If you are still trading kospi with IB, a backup broker is a must to hedge in such situations. Trading sims are suppose to work better than the real deal. If I am getting disconnects and hanging orders, I'm not inclined to trust them with my cash. How can you guys day trade kospi with IB? 1 order problem and 1 disconnect today cost me 20 ticks of hard earned money over the week. IT'S A DAY TRADER'S NIGHTMARE! I am actually glad I met with this problem on IB's sim before making real cash trades. So now I know IB is a definite no-no for kospi day traders. Thanks woodark for your korean brokers recommendations. I looked through their sites and noticed they all needed a "standing proxy". Great list! Thanks! You mention NH Futures is geared up to work with TradeStation. Are you aware of any others offering connection with TS, or NinjaTrader, or Trading Technologies, or AmiBroker, etc?
You're using the demo or the paper trader? What time did the grid go pink. This is not the norm and i guarantee if it was, you'd here others screaming about it. The simulation is just a simulation. do not expect it to mirror reality.
Hi def, I was on the paper trader (using live feed from my IB account). The grid went pink at about 3am - 4am EST (11+ am Singapore time). To add, I trade from 8am - 2pm Singapore time and every day, IB TWS goes pink on me once. This also happened when I logged into my live account for quotes at another place, on another computer, with faster internet access. This has nothing to do with my auto logout.. I set it to a time outside my trading hours. I previously tired trading with Trading Technologies simulator with live feed and experienced no such situations. There were absolutely no hanging orders, just the occasional disconnect with my broker feed (not IB). If anything, I expect that sims run better than their actual platform, especially with order executions. Another consideration could be my location, which is Singapore having a huge latency to IB's servers. I do not know if I am being directed to IB's HK server or the US one. These aside, you guys have absolutely no problems with hanging orders and disconnects when trading Kospi futures with IB? Today was bloody scary seeing my week's effort wiped out in a few minutes. I did a search on problems with IB... and a whole list of discussion threads came up. There are others like me who are looking for another alternative to IB. I like IB for its all-in-one, and reasonable commissions... but poor order execution is a death trap for day traders. It's just sad that no other discount broker offers Kospi.
11am Singapore would be 10 PM EST so your times don't quite match. However, it sounds to me like you're on the US server which resets around midnight EST. I'd check with a ticket to customer service and ask them to place you on the HK server if you primarily trade Asian markets. this way you'll avoid the daily reset and should reduce your latency. If you continue to get pink screens, contact Tech Support at CS as they can further drill down to find out why you're getting timeouts as this is not normal.
