Thanks dkjk, yes selling options is a big part of my strategy. The margin IB calculates for all Non-American options is the margin specified by the exchange, in this case the KRX. So margin calculations may not be much different than your brokerage.

Can you identify the brokerage you are representing or email me directly as I am interested in finding out the conditions that have to be met to open an account.

    Thank you.

    Hi dkjk

Welcome to ET! It's wonderful to have a Kospi insider here...

Given the huge volume difference between futures and options, is there very active arbitrage between the two instruments?

I've been monitoring K200 futures and options for over three years. Do you think it's fair to comment that price action on an option expiration day and the day immediately before to be, shall we say, often full of surprises?

    *****************************************
Can you also send me the same info by PM?

    Thanks!

    Dkjk,

I can not find an answer to this day about large blocks on kopsi that cross the tape all the time, but do not affect book at all. I would see 150 on best bid, then the tape shows 300 lots sold, and nothing moves even 1 tick.

They do not affect me, but I am curious if you can shred any light on this.

    Thanks,

  9. My guess is an active OTC market where block trades show up retrospectively.

Sorry for late reply. Been busy little bit :)

Anyway I will just post PM message here without my company info.

It seems some people want to open an account in Korea to pay less commission since IB is charging almost double.

    Well.

Frankly speaking, I would not suggest to open an account in Korea unless you are not opening an institutional account.

Because conditions are quite complicated for foreigners.

First, you need to open an account by visiting us unless you are not opening an institutional one. You cannot open an account in any other brokerage houses without identifying yourself visually.

Second, most of brokerage houses are charging more margin to foreigners because there were some cases that foreign investors disappear after they lose huge money due to their short option positions.
However, if you are daily trader(clear all your position before market close) then margin will be calculated same as others.
