Kohl's (KSS)...What am I not seeing??

  1. KSS p/e was 4.05 but who knows about Kohl’s prospective. I have long positions, they paid good dividends even last quarter. Let it open we will see how stocks value will change.
Maybe not good investment but my expectations it will game value.
    What do you think?

  2. I don't know. I owned KSS for several years in my long term port a long time and they paid some great divys but I sold them a few years ago when my wife stopped shopping there and preferred other stores much more. I just couldn't see them being long term winners and ultimately I believe Covid is going to quickly shake out the winners and losers. I also don't consider ANY retailers divy to be safe until they start selling again. KSS does sell online and has AMZN relationship. I definitely would not short or long KSS right now but that is me.

In my trading account I am long TJX and short ROST as my only retail trades.

In my long term port I own WMT & CVS and just starting positions in TJX, VFC and WSM.

I am looking to pick some winners and losers to pair.

Was look at investing some in this stock...Glad I didn't. This tells you how the market has priced this company!!

But even as stores reopen, it'll be a while before the need to conserve cash passes. As if to emphasize that point, Kohl's said in a regulatory filing that it raised $600 million to bolster its balance sheet via a bond issue on Wednesday. Kohl's new bonds will pay 9.5% and are due in 2025.

  4. I'm more bearish on retail... cut all my longs and just holding shorts for now. I don't think consumer is going to be quick to pack the stores and minimum wage employees not paid enough to deal with covid challenges. WMT & CVS costs going to outpace revenue I think so even though they may beat top line I doubt bottom line will be easy for a while. Better trades out there.
