Unfortunately it's quite obvious that the IOC took real pleasure to spit in Obama's face. I guess it's their "subtle" way of letting him know that he has not apologized enough for his country just yet.
Actually today's humiliation reinforces the point that it's totally useless to pay attention to the world opinion. Bush or Obama, arrogance or apologies, cowboy or Mr. Nice Guy - the outcome is exactly the same. Why bother?
Don't be an ass. The fact of the matter is that Europe has hosted the Olympics 30 times and North America 12. South America has NEVER hosted the Olympic Games. That was a huge factor.
So they eliminated a north American city first, not Madrid which is in Europe and not Tokyo which already hosted the Olympic Games in 1964.
You really need to do some homework on this subject. In case you didn't know... Madrid = Juan Antonio Samaranch
Your statements below are kinda contradictory. At any rate it only proves that while they respect Samaranch, they have no respect for Obama despite all his popularity, charm, apologies and concessions.
How so? Madrid made the finals out of respect for the 89 year old Samaranch who doesn't have much time left on this planet . . . but didn't get the Olympics because Europe has already hosted 30 Olympiads. I fail to see the contradiction. Please explain.
You said that Chicago was eliminated because North America has hosted 12 Games and that was a huge factor. And yet Madrid was not eliminated even though Europe has hosted the Olympics 30 times. And Tokyo was not eliminated first either even though it already hosted the Games before. Sorry but you can't have it both ways, clearly the number of times a region has hosted the Olympics was not such a huge factor after all, at least in the first round of voting. I don't disagree with that. My point is that Chicago was the first city to be eliminated - Obama got no respect whatsoever despite all his international apologies and unilateral concessions, despite all that nonsense about how he is beloved and respected in the world. Hopefully he'll learn his lesson that in the real world all that international admiration is worth absolutely nothing to the country that he was elected to represent.
"too stupid" indeed ... Few If Any Conservatives give a fuck that the IOC rejected the USA In fact, most are overjoyed that tax payers money won't be wasted on another boondoggle
