Kissed her head and smelled her hair

  1. It will be up until about Christmas. A big "I am the one to hate Trump more than you" fest.

After that. Nope. Gotta start taking your opponents down.

Yes. To the first part. Everyone enjoys a trainwreck and the dems got one going.

The amusing part is that it is members of the Democratic party and liberal news sources such as Vox and CNN who are pushing the Joe smelled my hair narrative and are doing their damnest to take him down before he can announce a run for President.

When they are not focusing on the "he smelled my hair" story in the last week the left is blasting his past actions related to Anita Hill, etc. Clearly the left is trying to take Joe out before he can announce a run for President --- while he is the most middle-of-the-road candidate who can win the Presidency for the Democrats. This merely serves to outline that the left is going to push some extremist agenda candidate who will easily be pummeled by Trump in the general election. And once again -- just like Hillary in 2016 - Democrats can only blame themselves when they lose in 2020.

I disagree, they've done a good job of ousting Bernie and Pocahontas. They want a middle of the road no doubt. My guess is they want someone younger for some reason (kamala, beto, who knows).

I think you’re making a mistake in your analysis. Dems learned getting into the mud with Trump doesn’t work. They’ll take potshots but it’s all about who can put promise Trump.

Trump is a nasty SOB but what got him elected was he promised something to everyone from healthcare to coal to deficit reduction to a giant wall Mexico will pay for, on and on.

And that’s where this is going.

Of course it’s a hit job and yes it will be just as messy as the Republican primaries last time. So what?

What the Democrats should do is have their selected Presidential candidate focus on the issues (medical care, education, etc.) and effectively ignore Trump. Other Democrats (especially those good at projecting sarcasm) should go full "Trump" on Trump.... and mock Trump every single day. Get on Twitter, airwaves, etc. and mock Trump relentlessly in the same manner he mocks others. Talk about his looks, his ill fitting clothing, his hair, his inability to speak coherently... anything that is not a real issue. Don't even bring up issues or the Mueller investigation just mock Trump on the soft stuff.

Will this happen? No. I expect that the Democrats will run a far left candidate who who attempt to push an agenda that most independent voters cannot support, while playing identify politics and attempting to exchange barbs with Trump (and coming off the worse for it). This is the expected recipe for Democratic failure in 2020.

  9. Well, not surprisingly, I am going to say that you are processing it in a binary manner. First thing you do, is identify one variable and then make it an either/or. It is not. It's multidimensional. You have be able to beat trump and take your primary opponents down and have a platform beyond just hating trump. The dems may have learned that they cannot win by getting in the mud with Trump - actually the republicans learned that too- but the voters know the candidate needs to be able to deal with being in the mud with him whether they like it or not. So they better be strong on issues other than just Trump. So far, Buttlieg is the only one who understands that on both a visceral and cerebral level. He remains unproven across the board but has advanced to the next level. So good.
