LOL, you can't make that argument and call him "Mittens". The Bain issue is portraying him as a ruthless cutthroat corporate raider. The name Mittens brings images of a cuddly little kitten with white paws.

Perhaps, and maybe I'm painting Bain with too wide a brush. Fact is, I don't know enough about Bain itself. I do recall, however, the general reputation of corporate raiders from that era. And if the numbers defend Bain on balance, then I would be a fool to deny it. I just hope someone runs the numbers to the extent that it can be done in the course of due diligence on the part of his political adversaries. And then we'll all know, one way or the other. Until then, we will each probably hold on to our predispositions.

Politics does strange things to people and their views of the world. I have group of relatives who all ended up being teachers for public schools. Every one of these relatives lives in a small community that is GOP red to the core. They are all militant pro-life, anti-gay, pro second amendment, small government, the list goes on and on.

They vote democrat and will defend Obama all day long. Why? You guessed it..

I'm sorry, I don't have multiple personalities. I am the same guy up there that I am down here and in person. In other words, I don't pretend. But if you like pretending to be different people, so be it. I'm not going to get in your way. Good luck with that.

Yeah, politics and religion both. I actually don't care what people believe. Almost all my friends are die hard liberals. I have no issue with it. I spent most of my life in NY and Chicago so try finding any independent thinkers there. Good luck!

As long as people are honest and sincere, I don't have a problem with them. Consistency helps too. But that's getting a little demanding. LOL.

    Those who think like you?

RCG is more right than you are regarding LTCM, big picture, although your recollection of the details is impressive.

Unfortunately, only those of us who understand accounting, capitalism, and markets could be influenced fairly. We are the minority. The rest respond to fear mongering and propaganda.

But I'm operating under one main assumption, that if someone is going to pay to put together a 30-minute attack piece, they are going to try to use examples that best support their cause. The fact is that in most cases (as 377OHMS pointed out) even the best examples against him have been shown to be false. That is really telling.

After a large amount of research, I've been pushed toward the opinion that as PE guys go, he was probably one of the most legit and honest of them all.

No, people who don't all think one way. It's very hard to find people willing to be liberals in Alabama and conservatives in NY. People seem to get indoctrinated into their surroundings and go with the flow. I love meeting liberals in the south for example. Coolest people in the world. So are conservatives in the north.
