From what I have read, LCD prices will likely fall another 20-30% in 2007. This was attributed to competition between manufacturers, technology and volume of production.
http://orbotech.com/ this company make the test equipment for LCD manufacturing. their solution enables manufacturers to increase yield, thus reduce cost of each flat panel. http://www.corporate-ir.net/ireye/ir_site.zhtml?ticker=ORBK&script=200
That's already established... it's the reason for the proliferation of widescreens.... "more yield/blank". It has nothing to do with what consumers value for quality, except "cheaper price."
20% to 30% at a minimum. I know somebody from the very upper levels of "Best Buy", and the pricing will be collapsing due to a glut after the holidays if the lower sales projections play out (so wish for weak consumer spending on the PC and LCD side of electronics and there will be KILLER deals in January...LOL) PC's too......time to upgrade to the new Duo Core chips for my next PC's just after the holidays.
