. Hey deaddog, It looks like prices dropped a fair ways below the 10 SMA today, though they closed above it. If you don't mind my asking, does this mean your rules require that prices close below the moving average in order to generate an exit signal?
Yes; My process is to have the stock close below the ma. Once that happens the stop then becomes the low of the day it closes below the ma. (Apr 26 triggered a stop) If the stock opens below the low of the prior day I'll mark the opening range and sell if it trades below the opening range. Sometimes like today it works and other days like monday with WCN it might cost me a couple bucks.
Market action warrants tightening stops Raised stop on MRK from 81.50 to 83 Raised stop on KHC from 37 to 39
Stopped out of UNH @$496. I screwed up. Put the stop order in as a day order, instead of GTC. Oh welll, luckily I only had 10shares.
Sitting with two positions that have not been stopped out and are holding up well. MRK and KHC. Sometimes its better to do nothing, so i have been doing nothing for a week or so.
Bought DOW @ $68.29. Stop at 64 No target (i dont know how to set a target when there is no overhead resistance) MRK Raised stop to $86.72, breakeven, from $83 KHC Raised stop to $42.98, breakeven, from $39 Keeping stops tight in a vulnerable market
If you don't know where you are going, how will you know when you get there. My initial target would be the last swing high. Like I've said before your plan should answer the question "what do I do now?" It's hard to follow a plan if you don't have one.
which looks like it would be 71, going back over a year, and again in the last month am I correct? If that’s the case, then not a great risk reward setup. It also hit 71 twice in April, but since then it backed off and seems to be building a base, which is why I liked it.
Bought BG @ 112.54 STOP 105.50 INITIAL TARGET 128 Strong sector strong chart, bought on low volume pullback.
