Your 5k is gone in essence. Trust me when I'm telling you that your training fee acts both as tuition and risk capital. It just can't be stated as that. It doesn't matter if it's gone before, after or in the middle. That's what trading with, and when you go thru that mone, unless you show tremendous promise as a trader, just like anywhere else you'll put more money up. Just the nature of the business for new traders. If you're experienced it only then makes sense for them to do a profit split b/c they can actually make money on you so it's worth the risk for the firm.
Even if have not run down your 5k tuition, they may not keep you if you don't make money month after month! Once that money is paid, it is theirs. They can cut you for any reason or no reason! When it is a risk deposit, it is still your money if you don't lose it !!
I hear what you're saying but in order to bring on unlicensed guy that's the way it has to be structured.... Otherwise you'd have to have a minimum of 25k at all times in your account.
It looks our government regulation is out to screw little people. Semi-scam Prop shops turn this into a windfall - now they will never need to refund any "risk deposit".
Hey WinItAll, I think we're starting to get him convinced. Over the last few pages the firm has turned from a scam to "maybe not a total scam" and now is a "semi-scam". This reminds me of the terrorism threat levels that the governement came up with a few years back... Maybe in another 20 pages he'll say that the firm is "legit".
Here is an expert's view of what is a real prop firm. http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2008/07/proprietary-trading-firms-arcades-and.html Keystone may be a legit expensive online trading school. It is better some others out there. If you do not need trading capital, there are a lot less expensive ways to learn to trade. Good luck to all who choose it.
If they are honest, they would had tell you the whole truth before anyone hand over the 5k for their training. The real truth is "you can't really make money there" - your very own words!! They know how to stay within the law (i.e. legit) doesn't mean that they are honest. So they can teach a newbie a few things. Is what they teach worth the 5k tuition ?? How many times do they want a trader to do more training (i.e - put up more money) - way before the trader lose the fees already paid? Anyone making a living trading for them after paying for the training ? Anyone at all ??? How long have you been there ?
go to their website and check out the free videos about the basic ET101 course (full Chapter 1 and excerpt preview for other chapters). i won't post the link here as it's easy to find for those interested in Keystone. the "online" version of the basic course is $1,495 ..... the $4,995 fee includes ET101 course.
You have to give them 5k (take their $4995 course) in order to trade for them. This does not mean that you won't be asked to do more training (give them more money) if you lose a small portion of your training fee. They say you will be trading "their capital", but actually it is the money you handed over to them. It is "their capital" in that what you give them is not a risk deposit (a risk deposit is still yours until you lose it!) but a fee that is theirs as soon as you hand it over. They have all the upside, you have all the downside. All I like to know is what percentage (1%? 5%? 10%? 20% or more?) of traders who paid the 5k fee actually last long enough to earn that 5k back without having to give Keytone more money for more training. And how many actually make making trading for them after the paying so much for the training? How many - if it is even 1% ?? They are selling "training" and an empty dream with enormous fees . Whatever Keystone was some years ago isn't the Keystone today. Another Oliver Velez type deal. THEY CHARGE 5K FOR TRAINING WHAT CAN be LEARNED FROM A BOOK FOR $50 or less. The reason wannabe traders are willing to pay so much is that they think that by forfeiting 5k, they get the 25k or more needed to day-trade. IF there is ANYONE who had paid the 5k remote training and making a living working for Keystone (online?) ? Please share your experience.
After sampling a few online services with intentions of possibly implementing my own I have come up with these General OPINIONS: You should never pay anyone to teach you anything unless they're putting up big numbers themselves and talking you thru it. If they are just straight teaching then they aren't going to tell you anything you can't learn for free with a library card or an internet connection. None of the firms that offer these services are a scam or illegal or anything in this realm of thought, this is just my OPINION after recording a day or two of some of these online training courses and watching them after the close. IF YOU CAN'T SEE SOMEONE PUTTING UP BIG NUMBERS THEMSELVES, THEN THEY SHOULDN'T BE REQUIRING THOUSANDS FROM YOU. FOR TEACHING SERVICES, I WOULD RECOMMEND PAYING MONTHLY AS OPPOSED TO A LUMP SUM, THIS WAY THEY HAVE TO RETAIN YOUR BUSINESS AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. What you should be looking for is SOMEWHERE THAT THE TEACHERS SHOW YOU THEIR TRADES LIVE, DO SIGNIFICANT VOLUME RELATIVE TO THE STOCK, BE AT THEIR TRADING SCREEN ALL DAY B/C THEY KNOW THAT'S WHERE THEY'RE MAKING THE BULK OF THEIR INCOME AND BE ABLE TO GENERATE ATLEAST TENS OF THOUSANDS IN A GIVEN DAY. Wasting your money learning from any one esle is exactly that..... A WASTE OF MONEY.
