Ya know, I knew you'd be the first to chime in on that lol. But ya gotta admit, Belushi would have knocked it out of the park portraying this nut. SNL could milk a whole damn season out of this saga. Episode one would of course be Shark Tank with O'leary giving him the deal. Cuban is way too smart, he'd see right through it and say "you're a f'n crook." Robert would say, "I've been in this space... blah blah blah.. but... blah blah blah." Damon would say... "It's not for me- I'm out." And give a sideways wtf look as he rolled his eyes. Lorrie would wish him "The best of luck." And Barb would just say "I don't understand this stuff so I'm out."
We need a 'special guest star' Cathie Wood. Some skit revolving around ARKK. Looks like Tesla is headed toward capitulation... this is the last nail in her coffin:
That would be a good one too. And it goes without saying, I'd bet my right *** that an Elon episode is in the works. So much material. Those writers have a horn-of-plenty.
Nope, that 5MM went to pay for taxes. So we as citizens should thank Kevin for his contribution. The rest he reinvested and lost it. At least that is his story.
Taxes? He still gets a decent benefit from the taxes paid. Shouldn't a clawback just get back the $5m?
I assume he got 15 MM in FTT tokens and he immediately cashed out (or bought another crypto) creating a taxable event. So he paid 30% tax on it, thus 5 MM. Just because he lost the rest, that doesn't give him any right for a tax rebate. Even if he got it in dollars (highly doubtful knowing FTX) that is his earnings, thus taxable. Doesn't matter what happened to the rest, from a rebate POV. If he paid taxes on it right away, he was wise. Imagine he invests all right away, then loses it all. Then he still has to pay 5MM to the tax office.
Dude is hypocrite. From one of staunchest opponents of crypto to its biggest cheerleader. He basically got a freeroll with the $15m paid fee to get to a billion $, especially since he knew the head con man. O'Leary isn't an idiot, there is case to made, he may have done the due diligence and knew it was a house of card but went along with it cuz the con was so good. If it wasn't for that big bad evil CZ spoiling the party, he would have been filthy rich. O'Leary probably would have joined Madoff, if he was paid another fat fee.
That is the most likely case. Reminds me of the NINJA loans given out from 2004-2007 by the mortgage scammers in Southern California & Las Vegas. They all knew it was going to implode but since the GSEs (Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac) bought the loans they didn't care what happened to the buyers, it was the government's problem.
