Juiced fruit, retaining pulp etc on an empty stomach is a high energy start to the day.(Edit:Kale and water too, similar to Sun T's recipe. No broccoli though! haha) I did it for many years after reading Anthony Robbins Unlimited Power. (Edit: published 1997-Jesus! My second meal of the day back then was 2 bananas and a litre of light milk.lol.Energiser Bunny! haha). Not sure if the science from back then still holds up,but anecdotally it beat out coffee or any sort of food consumption first thing in the morning for my purposes back then.
Again with the strawman arguments. Who is advocating for processed oatmeal, fruit juice, and sweetened yogurt for breakfast? Give me a source.
Vegetarians read labels. And supermarkets - good ones - are responding. Haven't you noticed? And no longer just Whole Paycheck.
No. There is dairy (skim milk, fat-free plain Greek yogurt, and a very small amount of fat-reduced Swiss cheese), occasional eggs and meat in my diet, most of which is poultry and fish. I have a really good burger every few months or so. But most of my calories come from legumes, whole grains, fruit and vegetables. Oh, and nuts and seeds.
This thread was started about a year ago and has amassed just under 23,000 views, so I want to thank all the contributors for making that happen. It chronicles my ketovore/carnivore diet journey now slightly over 2 years old which has changed the arc of my life. This wasn't about living longer, instead I simply wanted to live healthier. I hope this thread has played a small part in people becoming more aware of the direct link between what they eat and their health. For as heart surgeon Dr. Philip Ovadia accurately says, “Heart disease, diabetes, strokes and cancer all have their roots in poor metabolic health.” And as Dr. Elie Jarrouge so aptly puts it, “No one is coming to fix your health. No pill, prescription, or supplement will save you from chronic disease. It starts with owning every single bite you put in your mouth.” One final thought which we all know to be true: You can have a multitude of problems in your life until you have a health problem. Then you only have one problem. Or put another way as done in an old Indian proverb: A healthy person has a thousand wishes, a sick person has but one. Good health to all of you on whatever path you take.
