It's well past time other nations stop reporting on these shootings in the US.

Rain is wet, there was a mass shooting today in Amercia bla bla bla.

The symptoms of CTE include memory loss, confusion, impaired judgment, impulse control problems, aggression, depression, anxiety, suicidality, parkinsonism, and, eventually, progressive dementia. These symptoms often begin years or even decades after the last brain trauma or end of active athletic involvement.

The below stands out to me about this guy...

He said Sturgeon always wore a helmet during basketball games because he had suffered so many concussions. “The big thing I keep going back to is that in the first year of high school, we played football together in eighth grade, he was out most of the year because he had multiple concussions. Then he had a couple more in high school,” he said. “I’m not saying it’s the cause but I always think back to that… There were times I’d wonder, will this catch up with him? But never in this way. He’s the last person I'd expect would do this.”

It reminds me of the professional athletes that become violent...some criminally after too many concussions (e.g. NHL, NFL, CFL, Soccer, Rugby, Boxing, UFC).

Sometimes they became violent criminals years later while suffering severe migraine headaches all the way to the end.

  4. Hopefully the fmaily offer to have his brain examined for concussion like injuries as they did with a few football players who had issues when they died.

I think this case is simpler than all of the other theories.

The guy was fired a week earlier...He had tons of bills to pay and realized he could not pay them. He tweaked and killed the people at his old job because he was going to become homeless.

The pay-check to pay-check lifestyle is rough.

it's possible...I floated CTE because the kid was apparently well behaved....CTE outbursts have been characterized as bipolarish...

I dunno if his brain survived the shootout though I imagine w/his history of concussions, there should be enough MRI scans.

Yeah, that theory crossed my mind too. Yet, jobs are plentiful these days...something like 2 jobs for every job seeker.

Yet, severe financial problems have been a motive in many mass shootings or just a combination (e.g. financial problems plus brain trauma from concussions).

An occasionally irrational animal, with access to high-powered weapons, experiencing economic precarity, and possibly with brain injuries... what could possibly go wrong?

Of course, the conservative pundits don't believe it is the easy access to guns, mental illness, or job loss ---- it's all caused by the pronouns.

Even if we all accept the easy out of "mental illness" we should admit that mental illness will always be with us. Solving mass gun murders by perfecting human nature is a fool's errand.
