Thats because those are the rules Mitch McConnell set but the line of rationale expands to all election years because the senate has to confirm. This was the slippery slope McConnell brought us down.

This is why we voted for Trump over Clinton.
This moment - right here - right now.
With Trump if we get another Gorsuch... he will get re elected...
With Clinton we would have been Venezuela in a generation.

Ginsberg's husband won't pick up his Cricket phone right now. He's heading for the liquor cabinet...

CaptainObvious, vanzandt and jem like this.

  4. I don't know. With a name like that, a lot of the dems would assume that he is Hispanic.
Same for Santa Claus. Dems might vote for a hispanic like him too.

  5. This one thing, this right here is what has had the left in such a manic state all along. They knew this was coming. They were so, sooooo close to being able to shift the court left. Do you have any idea just how much this screws up their long term plans? The best they get, the very best they can hope for now is a court that leans much more center than left. Worst case for them is a court leaning right. All of the nonsense that they tie up lower courts with which gets nixed up high, all of it is now dead. Just take immigration as one issue. A left leaning court opens the border. Now that's dead and gone, not that they'll ever relent on it, but it is dead and gone for them without some outright revolution by the state of California, and I mean an actual revolution.

I don't want a conservative or liberal supreme court. I want them to actually do their job of interpreting the law without political bias. That's my pipe dream. :D

It was Harry Reid who changed the rules. Google "nuclear option".

PS. Trumps nominee will be seated before the court's next term this October.

  8. That would be ugly, but you're right, it was Dirty Harry that opened that door.

That's no surprise. Many liberals only believe in the rule of law when it's convenient.
