2. Dude, if someone is delusional, it's YOU. You obviously don't know history much. My grandma was taken as a little girl and shipped on a train to work as a home slave for some German assh#le in the Naziland. Many were killed and tortured.
One of my greatgrandfathers learned that his wife gave birth to a child. He snuck up home and was caught. The Germans made him dig his own grave and then killed him.
I don't remember any stories of any celebrations going on when Germans came in. You (if I got your place of origin correctly) didn't put up much of a fight. So stop pounding yourself on the chest and saying how cool you are and that we should not have interfered (to save your asses).
What would be next had they won?
I'll give you a very likely scenario - instead of typing on this board and enjoying the liberties you have, you'd be cleaning up shit in the barn after some German landowner's horses - just so you'd get your piece of bread and a place to sleep, on the shit-covered hay next to the horses. That's in the best case scenario. You'd most likely be a slave with no rights, maybe even no name, just a number branded on your forehead.
Let me remind you of smth, according to their philosopy at the time, you and other nationalities were not considered people. All other folks were an inferior species. Only to be used as work labor, totally disposable.
I had a Czech roommate in college. What scares me is how forgetful you people are. I am personally scared to even think what could have been if Nazi's got it there way. You are right, you would learn German instead of Russian. I don't think you'd like what you'd learn it for though.
Of course, Germany and your country are on great terms now, and I agree it is a wonderful nation with very efficient and industrious people (I have a German co-authur who seems to work 24/7) - but don't be forgetting that Nazis and Germans ain't the same thing.
I think Germans who understand the possible consequences are probably more thankful USSR beat Hitler than you are.

3. Thanks for the support :) I couldn't agree more with you on the theory vs. history distinction. My stock is probably very volatile though (small cap :( :)), but hey, at least it's not perfectly correlated with the rest of the bunch - should work good for diversification :D

Hey, life goes on, and both my boy and I are stronger (if not better) for it all. But like rigel says:

These are words of REAL wisdom. Maybe that's why I can trade stocks....because it's just a game that to me doesn't really matter. And it sure ain't 'cause I'm rich....I am certainly not. I just know that the worst that can happen is I will be more broke (good credit sucks). And in the end, it's only another game of keeping score. The market hasn't treated me well lately. I have been doing well just to make any money in this environment, but not what I got used to. So what's the worst case scenario? I sell my house and move into smaller digs? Hell! I never thought I would live like this anyway. So better to have made it and lost than to never had made it at all! (to paraphrase an old cliche). I can get around just as well in a Chevy as a Lexus. And I can live with one bathroom instead of 5. And I can make do without a country club membership and all that, 'cause it's just stuff. And I am not ashamed to be called a "liberal" even though it's a dirty word to some. And I am not ashamed that I resisted the draft. And I am not ashamed that I made a deal to stay out of jail for doing it. And I am not ashamed that I got shot for being a whimp and accepting the deal. And I am not ashamed of being angry right this second.

But you know what....I have a beautiful wife, and three great kids, and life goes on. And I am glad to be alive, and I couldn't care less if Russia collapsed because of their economic system or if was just bad timing. I do know that there are no perfect systems. And I also know there are no perfect people. And I also know that its all OK as long as there is good music!!!

Sorry for the rant. I will try to be funny again next time. I promise!

Peace,

Well, looking back, maybe I should have been (just a little).

But like most of us, sometimes we feel things aren't exactly as they should be, and our temperament isn't as even as we would like, and our tolerance for accepting what we must isn't what it needs to be.

And maybe it is wise never to post after having two stiff drinks with dinner.

And I tried to keep politics out of this. I really thought I made my request clear. But it always seems to get back to something we can disagree on. So it never surprised me that not only did this go there, but I too got sucked right into it.

Best to all. With special thanks to Daniel M, Vladiator, Darkhorse, and Publias for thier contributions to this thread, and to MrSubliminal (and of course his mom) for their contributions to my head. It is almost scary to think what I could accomplish if I had the smarts of any of these guys combined with my experience. I envy you your futures. (well, maybe not so much the old lady's).

And thanks to Magna for keeping the sound track playing on.

And for some of the others, try and contain your anger when someone disagrees. Opinions are plentiful. They are different, which makes the world go 'round, and the truth is, there are not many issues that can't be looked at from different perspectives. It is not healthy to be too rigid. Tolerance leads to discussion. Intolerance to argument. And the former is always more constructive than the latter.

Peace,

That's what bolshevics have been telling you all your life. I didn't want to speculate about it b/c it's just stupid. My personal opinion is, the Nazi regime wouldn't last no matter what. Regimes like that never last forever. Please tell me more about history.
I guess they never told you but what I wrote about Ukrainians is true. You know if your grandma were screwing Germans she would never tell you (surprise:confused: ). Actually Ukrainian girls made a reputation as good hookers in Bohemia.
I will post the exact name of Nazi Ukrainian armored division from WWII. If I remember well even Waffen-SS is part of the name. It might be surprise to you but you didn't have to be German to be a Nazi.

One last thing, it's interesting you (such a smart ass) defend a socialist system but somehow you were able to figure out Nazis were bad guys. Good, that's a progress. I have to remind you, though, Nazis mean National Socialists officially. This should end the argument. You are one huge DELUSION.

7. Forget it Cesko. Our friend Vlad was obviously brainwashed from an early age into the socialist utopia. (I know how powerful it is - you should hear the way my father talks about the 'golden days' of 1970s Yugoslavia...and won't believe a word i say no matter how convincingly i phrase it)

Soviets saved us? please. sure, they made massive contributions to the war effort, but after jun 44 it was practically a foregone conclusion that eastern european nations would win their freedom with or without the big reds.

Revising history isn't really going to help improve the present. sure, there were nazi collobarators in all nations. my father lost a whole family when the nazis massacred an entire village (Yugo/Macedonia) because of the betrayal of a relative.

like Don says, we need to focus on the 'here and now'..

Calling themselves "socialists" didn't make it so. China is officially the "Peoples Democratic Republic". They are neither democratic nor a republic. Nor are they about the People for most of their short history. But they have the bomb, so we should be careful what we say about them I suppose.

And I guess you didn't read my post just prior to your last one. Why the anger? Vladiator clearly said he was born in 1976. Now because he is originally from the Ukrain he is a nazi sympathizer? Lighten up!

Peace Cesko,

I find Daniel M very interesting. I would not ignore him. Though I often disagree with what he has to say, I admire his way of expressing himself. And I think he is an intelligent and knowledgeable guy. He makes cohesive arguments, and does his homework. I saw him in action on a thread in which he claimed Islam as "the worst religion". While I did not agree (philosophically) with most of what he put forth, his facts and his knowledge made for a compelling case. A good debate is not about right and wrong. It is about presentation.

Cesko, on the other hand makes use of anger and insults. He can be right (not saying he is), but his presentation is weak. Too emotional, and way too biased. And selective use of history taken out of context just to bolster a point here and there is a dangerous method. He uses the very tactics of those he most despises. Who ever did this better than Stalin and Hitler?

But even so, I like to think there is some value to his posts. I give the benefit of the doubt to anyone that can be so adamant in their beliefs. Because it is apparent to me that the only problem with a guy like Cesko is that he just hasn't lived long enough to know that issues are never as black and white as he believes. Maybe this is a place where he can grow up a little. If so, then at least something good comes of this.

Rigel, I feel remiss in not mentioning you in my line of appreciation for those that contributed to this thread (a few posts back). It was an oversight. Your posts are ALWAYS among the ones I read when I see your name in whatever thread I happen to be skimming through. That puts you in the company of the most "elite" of the Elite Traders as far as I am concerned. I look at all the threads and read no more than 5% or so of the posts. I will read, for example, the posts of Gordon Gekko because they are short, and I am always curious to see what someone who has nothing to say says. But you are at the other end of the spectrum, and you do have something to say. And you are concise. Which is refreshing. Thanks.
