Perhaps William doesn't feel that his work has made a positive contribution because, unlike the dog groomer, who witnesses first hand the satisfaction of his customer,... Is a hooker good contributor to the common good?
Right. Why should he? He wouldn't if he didn't see purpose. Sheesh =) All I am saying is that trading alone provides no contribution to society. That's all I am saying.
Since you are apparently not an American, and you are probably steeped in what your schools and TV tell you, I am not surprised if you don't understand. Because I don't believe what they tell me on TV, I would never call a politician a public servant but a bureaucrat. Vast majority of them are there for their own good.
Why do these threads seem to evolve into debates about politics, religion, or philosophy? I thought the tread was due for some humor and fine nonsense. Instead we get: Ok, some politicians do what they do for the greater good, and some do it for themselves. Some are even evil. At least we get to vote here. Anyway, I was only trying to make a point, not argue about politics. Don't know how this worked in, but I think trading before and after hours is saying you are somehow smarter than the market. We know this can't be, so I see no real sense in it. There are exceptions, but that is another subject entirely. Whether this is a contribution that is measurable is debatable. But in any event, none of us are finding a cure for cancer or being Mother Theresa. Few of us make "big" contributions really. Being kind, considerate, and law abiding, and supporting ourselves and our families IS contributing to society. Now I wanted this thread to be about trading being "simple". And the value of experience. It would seem that I have a lot of experience, and am usually successful trading. (not today). If it was about brains or creativity, I would be out of my league. I could never debate successfully with the likes of Daniel_M, Darkhorse, Publias, Chasinfla, and so many others who are clearly so much brighter than I am. Maybe I could hold my own with Fasterpussycat, but that's about it. And maybe he would give me more than a run for the money. So as to debatable opinions.... Let me go on the record about my feeling regarding a few issues, and hopefully we can proceed to more important (or relevant) issues: Politics....too personal to argue about. Not resolvable. Religion....too personal to argue about. Not resolvable. Philosophy.....too personal to argue about. Not resolvable. Music....I saw in the papers last week that a poll was taken to determine who were considered the greatest rock guitarists ever. #1 was Hendrix. #2 was Jimmy Page. #3 was Clapton. I think this poll was a horrible insult to the accomplishments of Stevie Ray Vaughn and myself. But the voters just stated their opinions. Even though they were wrong! But they were entitled. Rs7 ps: Gotta go with "case by case" on this one
Hendrix by far the greatest IMO and as much as I love Page and Zepplin 2 spot would have to go to Vaughn PEACE Rs7!
Yup, I agree. I would actually rather LISTEN to Page, but I know that Stevie Ray was the better musician. At least technically. Page however was pretty damn creative. No doubt about Hendrix being the #1 guy though. RS7
I can never get enough of Jimi... Band of gypsies sometimes even makes the trading rotatation... Rare to put anything on except for jazz when I trade... oh and im wit you on the rather thing How did you make out today Rs7? Trade well?
