    I expect that the Democrats currently have a "rape victim" available for each potential nominee. They certainly purchased websites opposing each nominee at the time the short list came out. Very much preparations of an orchestrated smear campaign for each nominee.

  2. Yes, he was over-elaborating, overcompensating. Whether that alone means he's being untruthful is uncertain, but it is a cue.

  5. My comments from yesterday below:

    ==========================================
    They will have at least one dem vote, Joe Manchin/sp and most likely more than one. Chances of getting a yes vote from Collins are good, or at least 50/50. Murkowski is unreliable. Flake is also unreliable and he hates trump and wants to even the score with him but for some reason I think he will vote for Kavanaugh. No logic to go with the gut feeling though.

    Kavanaugh still has a good chance of being confirmed. It is not a great chance, but it is at least good.

    Praise the Lord, all those Nacho chips have not ruined my gut! Might have even helped.

  6. ...that Ford came forward with a compelling allegation. What, did the left fabricate her? Is she fake news? I wonder what the Right would have done if the shoe was on the other foot.

  7. I am going to guess that if the shoe were on the other foot and the republicans had some dirt on a nominee that they could not wait to bring it before the committee hearing.

    Compare that to the "Feinstein approach" where you save it for hit job after the hearings are over but are looking too good for the nominee.

  10. 40 years ago this might have been accurate. The ABA however compromised its credibility and influence by becoming overtly political. They have essentially zero influence now in judicial confirmations. A relatively small percentage of lawyers even belong to this once prestigious group.
